Question about stats and slips

Goofy?

You post and wait for 5 replies????  We always waited for 10!  Trust me, you get over it by then.  5 works too I'm sure!

If you don't smoke, you don't have to worry about the meter because it just keeps on ticking!

I'm new here also but don't worry about smoking because it's not an option.  Haven't had a drink in 7 months and that is not an option either.  Just keep telling yourself it's not an option whenvever you get the urge.

it's kind of like jack nicholson says in ''the bucket list" , ''i love marriage , so much so that i did it 4 times'' !

sometimes quitting smoking is like that , quitting is easy , it's the not smoking again part that is hard. but you can do it and we're all in this together.

As you can see Nissala, we're quite passionate about protecting our quit.

The first thing we learned was to post before we smoke, and wait for at least five replies.

This is sooooo important because by then the craving has subsided. After a while you'll see that everyone is pulling for each other and you'll want to see how the others are doing. You won't dwell so much on how you're doing, and actually start to forget how bad you felt while smoking.

Just don't give up on yourself, and hang in there.

It's called hell week for a reason..you CAN get through it.

Ron

Hi  Nissala!

Like they have said, there are NO rules for YOUR quit meter!!  You make up your own rules.  If you want to do it right, do it right by your rules!!!  So if you have had a slip, you can still say that you have quit for 2 days with a slip or 2 slips or what ever you want!!!   BUT,   just don't fool yourself!!!    5  or 6  slips....  is that really quitting?     Like Josie said, we're not here to judge you, you have to be your own judge!!!   We're just here to support you, unconditionally!!!

Want my suggestion?   Go through your house, car , truck, old purses and find any of those stinking cancer sticks and crush them and send them to their watery grave down the toilet before you are tempted to smoke one of them!!!!

Then, DO NOT ever buy another pack of cigarettes or even think about bumming another one!!!  There, your temptation is no longer available and THEN you can get on with your quit without having to ever worry about resetting your quit meter again!!!

Like I've read somewhere on here.......    Quitting is easy.....  just don't smoke!!!

YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!  Positive Mental Attitude!!!   Slay the nico-demon!!!  Post before you smoke!!!  NOPE!!!

Hi!  I don't think there is a set protocol for your quit meter but for me personally I find the meter so helpful and encouraging that I don't want to reset it.  I tell myself that just one puff and I'd have to turn my quit meter back to 0.  I don't want to do that EVER because it is so helpful to see just how many smokes I have passed on.  It makes me feel good about myself.

You can do this!!!

Hi Nissala

Like Josie said.  Probably the most important thing right now is to make sure you have NO smokes around.  I hid for the first week and made sure my stashes were all empty.

Congrats on the 2 days and be good to yourself right now.  Your body and mind will be going through some changes.

Good Luck to you

Moss

Nissala,

Changing your quit meter is up to you.  We are not here to judge only support, so keep strong and try not to put yourself in that situation.
