I must admit one of the main reasons I joined Curves is for the socializing. Many of my (smoking) friends dont come around much anymore. Im getting lonely and bored, I something positive to do to keep me busy.

I haven't joined Curves but I hear that people really like it, especially if it is their first time to the gym. When I quit smoking, I started going to the gym regularly and when I started going regularly, I started to develop a social network. I have a couple ladies that I run with in the good weather (and I HATE running but love socializing) and afew of us even started our own training group in the fall. It's easy to get excited about going to the gym (or even going on a 5 k run or walk) if you are looking forward to seeing the other people there. I join every challenge and lots of groups because it keeps me motivated to keep exercising.
Good luck with Curves! It's a great way to go.....

Frosty I love Curves!!! I joined about 10 months ago and I really like it. I love to walk, but Curves gives you a total body work out will making new friends. The weight thing is all about what you put into your mouth. :eg: If it is close and weather is nice you could walk, I do, another benefit of not smoking.
Keep the Quit

I did Curves a few years back, while still smoking, but yes, it did work. I liked the idea that it was all women of varying sizes and ages, and since you are exercising the whole time, you don't need a "workout buddy" because you can't really talk anyway! Along with a reasonable diet, you will lose weight and inches. I'm thinking of going back. (notice I said "thinking")
Good luck!

I've gained 10 lbs since quitting, I had some weight to lose before I quit but now its just too much and time to do something about it. Anyway theres a Curves for Women center very close by and I wondered if anyone here had ever tried it or had an opinion about it??
