Is this normal?

16 years ago 0 447 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I haven't really experienced that. Just that clogging up of the throat and the voice going away for a minute. I have also started having a dry cough the last week or so. NOthing big, but there are a lot of people around here getting sick as well so maybe that's it. I never really catch all this crap that goes around, but I seem to experience a little symptom here and there. Well, I'm not a doctor, but IMHO (OK, maybe I'm NOT humble, but it is 'only' my opinion) that when we were smoking we were used to a REALLY dry mouth and throat and now we have a NORMAL mouth with saliva and all, and yucky as it may seem, we have to learn how to have a WET mouth and throat. What do you think? I seem to have all this extra...and learning how to take a breath without choking sometimes is tough. I keep starting to say something and the stuff goes down the wrong pipe! I can assure you we won't be finding out from my Doctor. I don't do doctors unless I have to. I am quite sure it will all be ok. Terry, I am not a doctor and I agree with Brenna, but I have that problem too. I do know a little bit about anatomy, I'd be curious as to what your doctor sais. Because, I have been telling myself that it is because the cilia in my lungs are repairing themselves along with other parts of my body, and because I'm not producing the same amount of saliva that this is happening. In my case as well, I didn't used to talk this much before. LOL, maybe that has something to do with it. Again, I am not a doctor-I don't know for sure. So, please if you do find out let us know. Terry, We suggest that you talk to your doctor about the symptoms you're experiencing as these are not commonly associated to quitting smoking. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water or hot tea to help soothe your throat and voice. Brenna, Bilingual Health Educator

I was asking Kelly last night if she had this problem of the throat. I'll be talking and it happens a lot lately and my throat just feels like it's clogging all up and my voice starts to go. It takes a while of trying to clear it and then I can speak clearly again. I'm not coughing up anything though. Anyone??
