Hi Ubelfrau, I'm using the lozenges too and this is my 4th smoke free day. I took more lozenges today than the first day and yesterday, but am still quite a bit under the limit of 15 a day, so I'm happy about that. I find they really take the edge off, more than any other devices I've used to try and quit smoking before. Hang in there. You've made it through 3 days already. Isn't that amazing? I found it hard to go 2 hours without a cigarette, but now I've gone 4 days. We can do it, I know we can. The people in these forums have a lot of good advice and seem really nice. Keep in touch as much as you can. Take care and good luck.

Hi. Days 4 and 8 or 9 were the pits for me... I was cranky, and emotional.. and I probably should have hid in a cave. It wasn't easy to start smoking.. remember we coughed and gagged and got dizzy... but we looked so cool and all our friends were doing it. It is and addiction.. and we opened.. a rats nest when we put nicotine in our brains and bodies.. OK so NOW.. the way to get out of the rat wheel is to keep saying NO.. NO NO NOPE (not one puff ever) there is NO such thing as ONE puff. one puff will lead me back to ... 20 or 30 or 40 cigarettes a day.. The more YOU say NO.. it will get easier.. it will take a couple weeks.. you have to be prepared... water, ice, mints, mentally prepared NO I am a NON smoker. I do not smoke. It is going to take awhile to turn off some of those nicotine receptors... it will take awhile for our own chemicals to kick in. When you are tired, hungry, cranky, something doesn't go your way.. your mind is going to tell you to light up... YOU have to say NO.. The more you say NO.. it does get easier. The main thing is to stay focused.. Remind yourself of the reasons for quitting. write them down, pick them up and read them,,, I had a water bottle with me the first several weeks.. every time I wanted to light up I drank water... Ok I sloshed awhile.. I also have a handle on most restrooms in a 20 mile radius. I am sleeping so much better, falling asleep easier. I don't have to go outside in the cold, wind, rain .... my car smells so much nicer.. and so do my clothes, etc. Read "Allen Carr's Easy Way To Quit Smoking" you can find it on line and download it and read it on your computer.. hang in there.. no one says this is a piece of cake.. it's an addiction.. and we are learning to take back control.... well now i am on day 3, and i found it was even harder than the first 2 days. i want a smoke so bad, but at the same time i dont want one. i am taken nicotine lozenges to help me with the craving, and i found that today i took more than the first 2 days. is this going to get worse???? i really hope not, but i think i am dreaming, thinking it wont get worse.
