Hi. Days 4 and 8 or 9 were the pits for me... I was cranky, and emotional.. and I probably should have hid in a cave.
It wasn't easy to start smoking.. remember we coughed and gagged and got dizzy... but we looked so cool and all our friends were doing it.
It is and addiction.. and we opened.. a rats nest when we put nicotine in our brains and bodies.. OK so NOW.. the way to get out of the rat wheel is to keep saying NO.. NO NO NOPE (not one puff ever) there is NO such thing as ONE puff. one puff will lead me back to ... 20 or 30 or 40 cigarettes a day.. The more YOU say NO.. it will get easier.. it will take a couple weeks.. you have to be prepared... water, ice, mints, mentally prepared NO I am a NON smoker. I do not smoke. It is going to take awhile to turn off some of those nicotine receptors... it will take awhile for our own chemicals to kick in. When you are tired, hungry, cranky, something doesn't go your way.. your mind is going to tell you to light up... YOU have to say NO.. The more you say NO.. it does get easier. The main thing is to stay focused.. Remind yourself of the reasons for quitting. write them down, pick them up and read them,,, I had a water bottle with me the first several weeks.. every time I wanted to light up I drank water... Ok I sloshed awhile.. I also have a handle on most restrooms in a 20 mile radius.
I am sleeping so much better, falling asleep easier. I don't have to go outside in the cold, wind, rain .... my car smells so much nicer.. and so do my clothes, etc.
Read "Allen Carr's Easy Way To Quit Smoking" you can find it on line and download it and read it on your computer..
hang in there.. no one says this is a piece of cake.. it's an addiction.. and we are learning to take back control....
