Feeling like crap!

16 years ago 0 311 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi Judy, Yes, you feel like crap, and how long have you been quit? Hmmmmmmm, 19 days now. OK, and how long did you smoke? Was it longer than 19 days? I bet it was. Did you think you were gonna get rid of all the poison taken in over how many years in 19 days? Let's think realistically. When you eat a steak, it takes 72 hours to go all the way through your system and be gone. Soooo, how long do you think it might take for those 3,000 some odd toxins to be out of your system when we take them in at the cellular level? I am being very blunt, I know, but I want you to be realistic in your expectations. Every quit is different, but everyone feels worse before they feel better. It's the nature of addiction. And the junkie thoughts will use anything to get you to come back to the addiction. Don't listen, just keep on doing what you have been doing for those 19 WONDERFUL smoke free days! And know that you WILL feel better, you WILL feel GOOD, and it WILL be SO WORTH IT! Believe! And FIGHT for your life! That's what you are giving yourself, your life back, and don't let that junkie thinking tell you any different! Hi Judy, Suppose I told you that in a month's time you won't feel great either? But you might feel SLIGHTLY better. And then like John, in 160 days you may feel great, but it may take a shorter or longer time for you. My experience as a 35 year, 30-40 a day smoker was that it took a long time before I started feeling good about myself. And because the improvement was gradual and subtle, it wasn't like I woke up one morning to feeling good. But believe me I DO feel good now. Every new Quitter should ask themselves this question: 'How long am I prepared to accept that I'm not going to feel completely good about things in my life?' If you want to quit, accept that the next few months, perhaps the whole year or more may not be the best of your life. Accept this, follow NOPE (Not one puff ever) and you can be free. Quitting is tough and there is no miracle pill. In today's world of instant gratification, this is one thing you will have to wait for. If you really want it, do it. It's so worth it. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 782 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 23,460 Amount Saved: 6,158.25 Life Gained: Days: 127 Hrs: 11 Mins: 59 Seconds: 45

The reason you feel aweful is because there is no more nicotine in your system to mask the damage the smoke has done to you. What you are feeling now is the damage you have already done to your body. It will heal in time. If I recall at 160 days quit is when I started feeling absolutely great! Don't worry Judy, you are no different than anyone else here. I know that it took a lot more time than I thought it should before I felt better. I still don't totally feel like a non-smoker should (whatever, that feels like) but I have noticed a lot of small changes physically. It all takes time, and it's normally not done in "our time". So, take care of yourself and get the rest your body needs. Judy, hand in there, these next few days will be tough, and like the members have told you, drink plenty of water and rest up. Your body needs time to heal and get well. Sylvie, Bilingual Health Educator

Judy I know its the last thing you want to hear, but give it time. I went around like a bobble head doll for a month when I first quit. I know it is difficult. But the goal is well worth the intial discomfort. Drink lots of water. I found that it is a distraction and also helps clean the system... nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 466 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 13,980 Amount Saved: $4,893.00 Life Gained: Days: 86 Hrs: 22 Mins: 47 Seconds: 53

Hi Judy, It Feels like Hell at 1st, But it will be worth it. What I do when it gets real bad is to think of all those mornings when I woke up and could hardly breath until I coughed my head off. Or every time I get a cold that stays twice as long as non-smoking family. I think of all the time I spent trying to go for a smoke. Yes quioting has been the hardest thing I have ever done but I still am so happy I am a non-smoker. It has been worth the hell. I will never smoke again. I will never have to quit again ever. I have been useing use a NRT. I was dizzy and disoraented at 1st and it is importan in my job that I stay focus. the NRT lozenge helped me to focus when I need to and relly cut down on the tired feeling. I stopped drinking coffee and exercise befor bed because I am not sleeping and this has helped. Ice water helps a lot too Stay Strong you can do this. Cigarettes Not Smoked

Judy, it takes time to get rid of all the chemicals and poisons that we put in our bodies by smoking. How many years did you smoke? Alot more than 18 days right? I feel GREAT now, and have for months. Keep at it, it is worth it.
