naomi, It is recommended that you continue on with the patch program to help you ease off the nicotine and craving. However, if you wish to discontinue it, then check with your doctor to come up with a plan that is right for you. You body will now react to the absence of the patch, so it can take some time. Naomi, You have effectively gone "cold turkey" which is extremely doable as many here can testify. You will have to hold on tightly for a few days but come Friday your body will be rid off all nicotine and that is a good thing. If you want to be quit more than you want to smoke, you will do this. I wish you well, Penitent d1413

Naomi - Your body is in major nicotine withdrawal right now! You might consider getting a lower mg patch & tapering off so the withdrawal is not so abrupt & severe. The good news is that every minute & every hour your body is a minute & hour closer to being done with withdrawal! Cigarettes Not Smoked

17 years ago 0 34 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I have been doing pretty well the past couple of days, my cravings seem to have levelled out at around 2 out of 10 for intensity. Then this morning I was very tired and rushing around for work, I forgot my nicotine patch. All this afternoon I have felt like I just quit this morning. I can't stop crying and if I do it is replaced by rage at the injustice of not being able to smoke. I have decided not to continue with the patches as I don't want to experience this ever again :( how long does it take to get over the patch? I have been using the 14mg patch since the beginning of my quit. I feel so tired already.
