FLU BUG INCREASING ANXIETY SYMPTOMS.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!! I panic about getting sick all the time... I freaked out when there weren't enough flu shots and got one the first second it was available. When I hear someone sneeze or cough, even if they are across the room, I still cover my mouth to not inhale their germs. I completely understand what you are going through right now and I am here to support you! We can get through this together!

Hi Henry, I just wanted to let you know that there is a bad bug going around right now that DOES seem to affect people's moods. Even my husband, who is a steady sort of guy, got very down and anxious when he was sick with this thing. When I got it, forget it! I was convinced I had meningitis and was literally shaking in bed with anxiety. But the good news is, it does seem to be specific to this bug, even my doctor talked about the emotional aspect of it. It will go away! Hope you feel better soon, Cobu

nopicnik, Have you tried relaxation techniques? What about breathing techniques? For tonight, prepare by reducing your anxiety level as much as you can. Try a hot bath, some soothing music or a warm beverage? Tomorrow do sign up for the Panic Diary where you can record your daily level of anxiety. You can also find how helpful it is to use breathing techniques to help you deal with your panic and anxiety. The Panic Program can help you understand more and may help you go about challenging your thoughts. Take Care, Melanie _____________________________ The Panic Center Support Team

I just had the flu and it seems I relapsed right afterwards. I'm not sure if it was the stress of being sick or my health fears, but i'm going through a nasty agoraphobic/panic setback at the moment... P

I have to seriously work on controlling my thoughts. If I do not, then I get so carried away I am a total whack case. I can obsess something to death. really. I just refuse to give place to such thoughts and if they get really strong I find something to do that will take my mind away.
