Stop everything and look at your child. Now, there is reason one to quit.. Grab a sheet of paper and begin writing down every reason why you should quit. Keep the list with you. Every time you crave, re-write the list - Satisfaction Guaranteed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 313 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,825 Amount Saved: $1,095.50 Life Gained: Days: 48 Hrs: 19 Mins: 53 Seconds: 41

Hang in there Rrains! Really, you won't go insane, even though it really really feels like it. This is the worst of it. Don't try to get yourself through the day. Just get yourself through the next 5 minutes. Just a few minutes. It's just a little bit. And it seems oh so much more easier than all day. Everyone has mentioned some very good ideas to cope with the craves. The deep breathing is particularly good for you. It can also give you a bit of an oxygen buzz which helps the craving for a nicotine buzz. Hang in there. It will only get better. Hey Rains, also, change your hobbies, to "quitting smoking" , we gotta put it in the past tense.... The junkie will lie to you and tell you that the cigarette is your best friend. But, what kind of friend gives you cancer and slowly poisons you to death? Be your own best friend and let's put these nasty things down! DL told me earlier to say this " I love myself and I will no longer hurt myself with cigarettes!" --- My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/10/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 25 Amount Saved: $6.88 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 3 Mins: 8 Seconds: 1

Becca, you can do this! I know you can. If I can then so can you. You did the right thing by posting. I like what Krisilu said about the hammer. I am the kind that I need to scream or hit something and it really does work. Hang in there, it will pass Terry My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/17/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 23 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 230 Amount Saved: $34.50 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 16 Mins: 22 Seconds: 2

Kristilu, Drink cold water, deep breathing helps. It is really tough, but it does get easier. Just 22 days ago I was where you are. I think about smoking occasionally, and it is normally with nausea. I never would have dreamed I could be quit this long. I have been on the roller coaster for 13 yrs. Putting down the first one was always really hard for me. It will take a lot for me to have to go through that again. You can do this. Hang in there! Rains, Hang in there girl! If you can take a fast walk or jog for a few minutes. You are young, and you can do this! You don't want to be trying to do this in your thirties, or later. Do it now, you will feel such a self confidence if you can make it thru it. Sissies can't do this, be a warrior and push thru. Hey one time I took a hammer to something. It works! Hi there Rain! Hang in there! The urge to light up will pass whether you have a smoke or not - hopefully you'll keep on choosing the 'not'. I know that there are times where all the good reasons, all the self talk, all the water, nothing, nothing seems to be enough. Believe me, this feeling will pass! Splash some cold water on your face, drink a tall glass of ice water, chew on a cinamin stick - if you can, take a shower or jump up and down in your living room, maybe do some stretches and breathe, breathe, breathe! Moments like this are part of withdrawal and tend to be the nicodemons trump card, as many people give up in moments like this. Please persevere! You can get through this, others have gotten through it and so can you. these are the moments where you just keep on putting one foot in front of the other and trudge forward. It's a hard fight, but you can do this. Smoking is not an option. Which means you have to find some other way to deal with the moment, just like many others have - and you can too! This is a battle for you and the ND can see it's chances of keeping you in the tar encrusted pit of despair are waning and so it's putting up a fight to keep you enslaved to your addiction. N.O.P.E. You will not remain a slave to the nicodemon, you're fighting for your freedom and you will win this battle.
