Oddly enough, the money I save by not smoking just seems to find another way to get spent :-) The cool thing is that by not smoking I was able to afford to take a leave of absence from work last spring and summer and live on my own savings. Durring that time off, I discovered that I really needed to change jobs, and so, have done so and feel much more like my own person. If I had not stopped smoking, I wouldn't have been able to afford the LOA and would probably still be stuck in a job that was stifling me...so I would say hurray for the money I didn't smoke...and hurray for the freedom I've found in being smoke free and double hurray for all the great people I've met along my journey :-) My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/9/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 550 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 22,000 Amount Saved: $11,000.00 Life Gained: Days: 50 Hrs: 23 Mins: 25 Seconds: 5

If I saved over $3800. in one year, I don't even want to work out how many thousands I smoked away into thin air, it would be tto depressing, after smoking for 37 years! In the course of a lifetime, the average smoker can expect to spend tens of thousands of dollars on cigarettes- but thats only the beginning. The potential costs for medical services that might be needed for smoking related diseases is even higher. But the greatest toll- the pain and suffering of cancer and cardiac disease victims and their loved ones- obviously cannot be measured in dollars and cents. Brenna, Bilingual Health Educator
