you can do this!!... sounds like you figured out what made you "break down"?. i've slipped twice in my twelve days. but 10 cigarettes everyday for 14yrs vs. two drags in 12 days ya me..i can relate to the "what's the point mentality." you stopped yourself from smoking more and thats the important part..what did i do? i posted and started to think about what to do the next time....dust yourself off. sing the happy dance song (way to go terry!!) p.s that this sucks thread is den's...i bumped it cus it helped me. Paula glad i could help you out a bit. Helping you, helps me. gets me out of my own stuff. You gotta give yourself even little rewards of some sort, it really helps. Listening to a relaxation tape is a great idea. I should have done that this last week when mood swings came into effect, i needed it then, thanks for the suggestion. Now, have a nice hot bath and get a good night sleep, you deserve it. Thanks den, rockstar bumped your "This Sucks" thread for me and it was a good read! It's good to be able to see all in one thread how someone evolves and gets to grips with the addiction. I mean, you, at one point sounded like me! But now, you're so much stronger, and I know that I can be too if I stick with it. I'm learning though, the only time I really stopped and gave myself a pat on the back was the end of day 3 because I thought it was so tough. Thats the only day I felt proud of myself and treated myself well. The rest of the time, I've been giving myself a hard time and today, I was just so angry and tried to pick fights with people!! I need to look after myself and be patient and good to myself. I listened to a relaxation tape the first 3 nights but haven't done it the past 2 so I'll start doing that again. Thanks for all your help guys My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/14/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 92 Amount Saved: 34.50 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 7 Mins: 36 Seconds: 44

Hey Paula You will be so proud of yourself as a result of not giving up. Don't let that nicotine addiction win. For me, i have no idea how i have made it so far, so many times just wanted to give up, give in or shoot someone. And yet i am still here smoke free, and i have to say i am not only proud of myself for not giving up, but amazed at myself, and each tough day that passes you will feel that way too. Just keep coming here and getting the support you need when you don't feel strong enough to support yourself. Hang tight and stay strong, you are not in this alone. ICL Good that you came here prior to going and getting a pack. That tells me that you aren't going to give in. I know its hard, but I promise you as hard as it appears to be now, the benefits gained will far outweigh the distress that you feel in this moment. Hang in there, it can be difficult to learn a new way, but doing difficult things is the only way to become stronger. And that is a very good pursuit. nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 420 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 12,600 Amount Saved: $4,410.00 Life Gained: Days: 78 Hrs: 9 Mins: 12 Seconds: 38

I just can't believe I did it. I'm at the end of day five, I want to keep that and view it as a I don't know, crazy moment. All the nicotine should have been out of my body, so have I now fecked it up and have to go through another 5 days till this is out of my system? Is that how it works? I want to give out and say Paula you're useless, you can't do this but for now, I'll believe thats junkie thinking, if I give up, I am a smoker My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/14/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 92 Amount Saved: 34.50 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 7 Mins: 34 Seconds: 45

Been there done that. Now what do you want to do? I know it is hard. Those first few days are pure hell if you are not ready for it. There is no need to beat yourself up over a butt, but it can lead to more and then to a real cigarette and then to a full pack and then you are smoking again. Then you will hate it. You will be smoking thinking what if I had held on. What if, what if. You are going to hate the fact that you are smoking and wishing you weren't. Then you will set another quit date and have go though hell week all over again. Get back up and dust yourself off. You have not lost the game, you were just being human. Now drown all of your butts and get rid of them. You can do this. Butt :eg: you must want the quit more than you want to smoke. No you didn't blow it!! Not a proud moment, but we have all been there. It's a small slip, that's it - GONE - No more, that was enough, I am sure you found that it didn't solve any problems, just gave you a reason to be harder on yourself. You don't want to start to go thru the withdrawls again, they are bad and you know that. What's done is done, keep your head up, go clean or something that will keep BOTH your hands and mind busy - keep busy - and know that you are going to make it. We are all here for you. you are strong and you can and will do thiskeep repeating that while you are cleaning or whatever. Oh, and keep out of the garden ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/7/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 42 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 756 Amount Saved: $294.84 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 20 Mins: 42 Seconds: 32
