Oh Den, you are doing good! You are doing great! Look at those great stats! 41 days kickin ash! It's probably just one of the milestone craves. Don't ask me why, I had hoped to avoid them too, and I got 'em. But look at you go. Keep this one thought in your head, if you smoke now, what are you going to feel except sadness, regret and anger fro giving in. So yes go to bed early on a day like this. Tomorrow is a better day! It is always a better day tomorrow! By the way Eilis59, my real name is Elaine too, so I am doing double takes when I see it! Hang in there. Do what you can to make it one more day, because you will be so very glad that you did! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 349 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,725 Amount Saved: $3,681.95 Life Gained: Days: 45 Hrs: 21 Mins: 17 Seconds: 1

thanks everyone for all the help, it's 1.30am in dublin ireland and I've successfully gotten through another - very tough -day. I was addicted for 36 years, I'm prepared to put up with this discomfort of quitting in order to be free.

Thanks for the posts, for us all. The last week my mood has SUCKED. I can't stand myself and i am sure my boyfriend doesn't think too highly of me either. My moods are all over the place changing in a second. i can't keep up with them. As much as i want (would LOVE) a cigarette i haven't given in, nor do i really and truly want to. BUT... this really sucks. i thought i was doing good, actually really good and then i have been hit with a ton of bricks this last week and don't know which way is up nor do i want to most of the time. Elaine, i hope you are still hanging in there, i am here for you as much as i can be. Hopefully, we can look back at this moment one day and laugh. Until then.... Elaine, DJ, Den, Patrick, Faith. I noticed we are all past the initial stage of cessation (hell and heck week)and still dealing with cravings that can get pretty intense. Are you all as surprised as me that it can get as intense as it does sometimes. I wouldn't begin to suggest how you feel but some posts indicate that you, myself included sometimes yet, are still fighting the demon with most of our claws out at times still. If it is any consolation it was a bout day 50 that I began to feel a little different. As many have already said, the urges become a little easier to dismiss and the intensity lessens. I used to wonder how the veterans felt when they would say it will get better, You know, How does it get better? Do the craves stop? Does the depression/anxiety lift? Will We feel like our old selves again? Will we be able to smile as much as we used to? Will we be able to do the same things and go to the same places? And we could go on and on and on with questions. I came to one conclusion. If we smoke again, we will never find out. Heck, what is a few months of discomfort, sometimes extreme discomfort, in order to experience what all these good folks have talked a bout. I trust Nonic, Bear, Lainey, and Tina are being truthful with us. We can all do this. WE ARE DOING IT!!! Hello elaine my name is tina. i understand your craving needs as do all smokers and quitters. i am over a year into my quit and i could pick one up now , why don't i ?. The reason is it would change nothing to my advantage it would alter absolutely nothing. cigarettes played a massive part of my life as it does in every smokers life and at every opportunity and excuse it was time to light a cigarette. i have gone through all the situations possible without that prop in the last year and I CAN . i no longer stink (was not aware that i did until i smell others that do ),i have money in my pocket ,i look better and not so drawn,i do not have the phlegm'y cough ,i can laugh without loosing my breath, i can walk longer without the puffing and shortness of breath, i can go on but there's no point because in the end we all know this already. lots of my friends have tried to stop and failed because its easier to give in. One day at a time ,don't look too far ahead no matter what you will crack this. Had we not started smoking in the first place this terrible addiction would not be with us. Be proud of yourself . Did you ever think you would get this far ?. Without realising it another week will have passed and you did that because you wanted to. Of course the feelings will get better with time ,but just take it one hour at a time and so on ,be very proud of yourself and don't take the easy root out before you know it you will be advising others how to move on. Be strong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
