I appreciate a pushy, opinionated and tough person because I am so that way myself. I'll hear anything anyone has to say to me. It helps. Terry

Terry - Just remember this --- At times we (especially me ;)) may come across as pushy, opinionated, and tough but that's just because we feel passionately about quitting and helping others along the way. It's meant well. And, no matter when you quit we will all be here to support you through this incredible journey. I'll keep "encouraging" you to start your new, healthy life on Saturday (2/9) - but will support you regardless! Sending positive thoughts your way! P.S. A favorite quote of mine = "What man calls death a catepillar calls a butterfly". Possibly I am trying to phych myself out of quitting and then again possibly I am just having a hard time being positive or energetic about anything. This loss has hit me real hard and I just don't seem to have the energy. We'll see what happens on Saturday morning after all the funeral and everything is over.

Terry - It kind of sounds like you're trying to psych yourself out of this....that the nicodemon is convincing you that you can't quit. Yes it's hard - it's incredibly hard!!! Attitude & perception can really play a huge role in quitting. Start using some positive self-talk. I had a ton of doubts before I quit and during the early stages of my quit. I wasn't sure I "wanted it enough", I wasn't sure the "timing was right", I wasn't sure that I had the strength to "fight the battle". I thought that in order to quit successfully I had to be 100% committed & eager -- but I wasn't. I tried it anyway despite my uncertainty. Why not try? Every moment, hour, day that you don't smoke are blessings. You deserve these blessings. Why not try? The whole thing is that I haven't really given as much thought to the quit as I was. That's why it doesn't feel like I'm going to be able to follow thru with it. Smoking is the hardest thing ever for me to let go of out of anything I've ever done. I know, I know! Mind Set! Well that's the way it is for me. Cassy, looks like you are doing good. Thanks for the postive words all of you.

Hi Terry I hope you're feeling ok today. My step father quit drinking approximately 17 years ago. He quit smoking approximately 1 year after that. He is said that if he can quit drinking he can quit anything. So can you. Terry, I've been following/reading your posts. I know that you are going through a very difficult time right now. Given the circumstances, I'm not surprised you're feeling low mood/energy/motivation wise. I'm wondering how much the anticipation/anxiety about the quit is adding to this? You don't have to feel excited to quit...just do it! You've stopped smoking before and you can do it again. Your heart is suffering emotionally, no need to continue the physical punishment to your heart of smoking. You CAN do this. We're all here to support you every step of the way. Hey Terry, Hope you are doing alright today. Just a reminder that even if it doesn't seem like it, happy is just down the road a bit... Wow, Terry, so many people are wrapping their arms around you. You will be supported here no matter how long it takes. I just wanted to tell you that in all the times I previously quit, I "just quit", as you say. In this one, I knew I had to do it for a while and then woke up one morning and I was ready. And that was it. My therapist said my conscious and my conscious finally meshed. I think this will happen for you, too.
