Hi guys, you always speak sense and I am very grateful to have you as friends. I just wish my pain from my constant fight to stay smokefree did not affect the people I care about so much. Personally, I am not sure that going back to smoking would return things back to normal. There is a high chance I could still be unhappy. And with the smoking laws, life would never be the same for me again. But I can't be certain that I won't find that I cope better as a smoker again. I think I can handle more pain, at least for a couple more weeks. So I will tell my mum when I have calmed down that I cannot carry out her wishes and can only smoke when I reach complete mental self-destruct. If, in the meantime, I manage to build my self-esteem and positivity back up then that may not happen. Right, time for a Kev promise (its back to basics time). I promise to my friends here that I will not smoke tonight. This is my one and only big quit. I have to make the most of it. I'll continue to write my thoughts out if that is ok. Maybe I can make it through as a non smoker still? The picture you painted for us of you sitting hour after hour in a pub, smoking and drinking your young life away, doesn't sound so happy go lucky to me, Kev. You know, we know, and I'm sure your mom knows, that your life was not better when you smoked. Perhaps your mood was more stable, but we also all know that that was because the junkie wanted you to believe that everything would be OK as long as you kept feeding him. Kev, Bear is right. You know that smoking is never a solution or a cure for anything. What it is, is an evil addiction that makes you and maybe the people around you, believe that it is a solution to anxiety, nervousness, depression, etc. If you are in psychological pain since you quit, it isn't because you need to smoke, my friend. It's because not smoking has given you the gift of seeing clearly that a problem exists so that you can treat it effectively and appropriately. That is what will make you feel better. Don't smoke, Kev. Give yourself what you need, not what the junkie needs. Kevin don't smoke. It will only make you feel worse. I say that from experience. Maybe the person who told you that was just trying to shake you up. Think of the reasons you quit. Think of the good things: extra money, good smelling, whiter teeth, better breathing etc. Don't you want to see your neice(sorry forgot her name get her diploma, walk down the aisle? Maybe this is the year that you will meet your beautifl soulmate and do you want to go into that with an ashtray kiss? Like the wise old bear said maybe you should seek professional help. Could be deprssion. judy My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 185 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,480 Amount Saved: $370.00 Life Gained: Days: 28 Hrs: 8 Mins: 47 Seconds: 59

Hi all. Today I have a question for you. What would you do if someone near and dear to you told you to start smoking again? Well that is what happened to me this weekend. But instead of going 'la la la la I'm not listening' and sticking my fingers my ears, I burst into tears and stated that I have to keep going smokefree for as long as I can. What would bring someone to ask something like that? Especially if they care about you? Well I think it is the care issue that makes people ask that. I thought I was doing well with my falsifying my emotions but obviously not, as everyone could see through me and the fact that I am either in tears, close to tears or trying desperately to distract myself. I think my mum can't stand to see me mentally hurt any more from all the tooth and nail fighting I do with myself to stop me from smoking. I guess the questions I am now asking myself is 'is there any point in continuing to be smokefree?', 'If I went back to smoking, would I be that happy carefree lad my mum remembers or would I be in even more limbo?' I guess I have some big decisions to make. My time as a smokefree person would never be considered wasted. I met some great people here. Some true friends who have stuck with me through thick and thin. In fact the only positive influence on my life is here. Anyway, time and reflection is called for I think. Sneaked on for a few seconds ... Jan, nice to see you doing it in style. Maybe a chinese takeaway for a reward for you on Day 7? Everything in moderation of course. Penitent, love the new pic! Loving the sand. Grin, You Rock! We share the same passion then. Maybe get hubby to get you an mp3 player for a reward? Young Tresa, Hope you are in the nice and warm and away from all that snow. Mister Ed. What a fantastic idea! The figures for me would be scary! Sue, no creme eggs, just lots of pink stuff. Something to do with a valentine I believe. If they are building an airport on your back yard you can always charge them each time a plane takes off. If you do ever come back to england and pop in and say hi, I promise to give you and John a guided tour of all the local attractions. Danielle, many thanks. Proud to be a part of the SSC crew! Hope I didn't miss anyone out. Gotta work again... Did you say, "Chinese takeaway", Kev? At this point in my quit I could murder a good chinese takeaway about now. My mouth is watering thinking about it! Keep that quit going strong, Cheers, Jan :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/27/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 5 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 125 Amount Saved: $42.50 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 15 Mins: 53 Seconds: 17

Kev, thank you ever so for the lovely long report (Pen, you can just shush over there ;0 )I do appreciate it. 3 stores, all in one day. sigh. Did you go into the food departments? Did you see any Cadbury eggs yet? I have seen some here but the foil around them looks suspect as if they were leftover from last year and I just am waiting for some fresh foil you know? Also I have to inspect them to ensure that they were mfg in England and not you know the other place. Really I just need to move to England. We need to move anyway as they are building a friggin airport in my backyard. Really no one consulted me. They never do. Anyway, back to you Kev, how wonderful you went shopping in Day 200!! I agree with Grin, your rewards should please you immensely, remember I bought about 40 books to read during my quit and they now live in my microwave cabinet. (don't tell John about this okay?), but they were essential to keeping me occupied during my quit, and I also I didn't have to kill John or my Mum, so they were very important. Kev, so tickled with my report and I hope to see you on FB one day soon (HINT HINT HINT) okay? ooodles of xoxoox Sue My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 274 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,740 Amount Saved: $479.50 Life Gained: Days: 26 Hrs: 18 Mins: 27 Seconds: 17

Hey Kev, go for the 3rd MP3, passion (positive passion) is a good thing! I for one, am passionate about music and have found so much joy in rewarding myself with new stuff. I have never figured out the mp3 thing but I may have the time and patience to appreciate one now. Now that I no longer smoke. You are doing fabulous. Keep it going! xxoo G My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 195 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,850 Amount Saved: $936.00 Life Gained: Days: 20 Hrs: 3 Mins: 15 Seconds: 47
