One thing I realized was that I hadn't yet rewarded myself for 6 months yet, so I went and bought some of my favorite comfort foods yesterday and treated myself last night. It is a little bit better today. I still had to run away from the store today (first time I've had to do that), but I never looked back. Accepting that I have had the desires has been huge in getting over this hump. They are going to happen from time to time, doesn't mean I have to jeopardize everything I've worked for up until now...because I really question whether I will ever be able to quit again. It is always a choice! You aren't going to smoke, penguin. You know that junkie can't really help you do anything but disappoint you, ruin your life and end it prematurely. You are well-prepared for this interview, you've done the work, you've studied, you know you have what it takes. And no junkie had anything to do with that. That was all non-smoking Judy that did that. You go kick ass in that internview, & get yourself a big reward when it's over, for getting through a major huge trigger. Hi Penguin! Been there with the interview thing. I was at about month 7. You know what? It's just an experience to go through, just like every other experience you go through smoke-free. Don't hang your hat on it and just gain the experience. If things work out anyway GREAT! I do things now that 6 months ago I would come out of with a palpating heart and sweaty palms. Now I go through them with only the afterthought of how I used to be, and dry and calm. After all, we are learning how to be comfortable with ourselves without smokes - it's new! Hey Penquin, You are my July quit buddy and I feel your anxiety. Something about that 200 days got to me too. Stress is a major for the craves and the junkie knows that. We know we don't smoke any more. Keep taking those deep breaths. Breath in relaxation and breath out stress. It's all a mind thing and you know that. Smoking will only make you feel defeated and we don't want that. Good luck on the interview, you are going to be great. Judy, I'm glad you've pushed through today. Sparky told me you were here and I wanted to come say how proud I am of you. As everyone has said, smoking will make you stinky. And I think it will also not do your confidence level any good. You have quit smoking -- you can do anything! Judy, don't you dare!! You have come to far to let that junkie take over. If you smoke I know where you live :eg: Seriously, you can get yourself out of this mess. That darn junkie needs to take a hike. Work on a gratitude list. List everything you are grateful for. Such as, I breath easier, I smell better, I can walk without getting out of breath, you get the idea. Do a really long one. Then write a list of what you would gain by smoking NOTHING Then write a list of you gain by staying smoke free. (((HUGS)))) Keep the Quit Sparky My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/30/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 271 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,710 Amount Saved: $406.50 Life Gained: Days: 38 Hrs: 10 Mins: 23 Seconds: 35

Firstly..Thanks to Tresa and Kelly for the quick responses. I was barely hanging on and I felt and little more grounded once those respones came. Anna..your response allowed me to venture out. I kept telling myself that I could buy some on Monday. What that did for me was to take me out of the moment that seemed so intense. And then it didn't seem to have as much power. It seemed that by acknowledging my desire, posting about it and accepting it was what I needed to do. Then the thoughts don't seem so scary. Funny that Lamplighter should then talk about acceptance. Very timely. I had two opportunities to buy, but at the grocery store I smelled it, and it reminded me of why I am still quit....IT STINKS!
