Hey Tryagain - Congrats on a HUGE one year! If you remember - I was also one of those people that was pained so bad and whined and cried all the time. I also left here for a while - In part because I couldn't stand to hear myself talk anymore! It's finally going away - so i want to give you a little hope - OK? I've finally shook it off, and have been able to find the strength to once again take control of my life. Oh - i still have urges and craves, but they don't get me down like they once did. My health even went downhill so badly that i felt like I had one foot in my death bed, but i've taken that back as well! I can't give you any advise on this - just a glimmer of hope. i don't know if *I* did something to cause this transformation, or if it was just finally... over. Whatever the reason, I am grateful, and i'm certain you will be going through the same soon! (This just began for me a few weeks ago!) Tryagain: Can't tell you how glad I am to see this. I know it has been tough for you and that you still have to fight quite hard, but you are still on the quitting side of things and that is the best news I can think of... nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 398 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 11,940 Amount Saved: $4,179.00 Life Gained: Days: 74 Hrs: 6 Mins: 26 Seconds: 16

On this anniversary, I will try to remember my benefits. The hacking cough is gone. I had a cold for a few days but it's gone now. I can't say I have more energy. Probably less, I spend a lot of energy just fighting off the cravings. Sometimes that alone exhausts me. I can feel my muscles all tensed up with the fighting. It really never goes away. I'm almost always tired where I never was before I quit. One of the reasons might be that the cig was my signal to relax. In the evenings, especially, it was my brain's signal to settle down at the end of the day. It doesn't get that signal anymore and hasn't adjusted. When I can drag myself to the gym I see a difference. My heart doesn't race like it did. Even when I drag myself to the gym I can't really enjoy a decent workout. I'm too exhausted from the battle. I spend a few minutes on the treadmill and that's all I can manage. Needless to say, I've gained 60 pounds. I lost ten, and gained it back almost immediately. Hello, TryAgain, You must know what it's like for a newbie like me just over Hell week to look at your mileage counter and see that you've clocked up a year of being Smoke-Free. That is great, that is stunning and that is terrific; to see that you've been struggling with cravings all that time is also stunning and makes me all the more in awe of your accomplishment. Like the others say, check your benefits from that smoke-free year; breathing better, more money in your pocket, more energy and many more... It's only been a few days for me and already I can breathe and walk and carry grocery bags from the checkout to the car without having to stop in the parking lot and set the bags down so I can rest and catch my breath. You and Kygirl and Mitri and Bobbi, Audrey, Lamplighter, Anna are the One-Year quitters that we newbies want to follow around like some kind of fan club; through thick or thin we want to be able to say in January of 2009 that we made it too... tryagain, When I read your post was as if I wrote it. why it happens to some and not to others I wish I knew what they do to not have cravings all the time. and when I read their posts I just don't get on much either as I also feel I am only being a whinner, and they are all doing so good they probably get tired of hearing me. but as you said we just have to get used to the feelings we have and live with it because I will Never Smoke Again! I send lots of hugs and much understanding of you! hugs, prayers, pixie dust Bobbi wish there was a way of getting my email to you and we could talk maybe help each other.
