I've slipped! :(

The holidays are a tough time for a lot of us, One more try, or so they tell me. ;p. Quitting before your trip (if you can get prepared properly) is a good idea. The only smokes you could get in Mexico when I was there were made from buffalo poop, and like kelly says, it can be easier in a different environment. Whatever you decide, you know where to find us. Quitting smoking is never easy. There is never going to be a good time to do it. Quitting with a smoking spouse...well, I can't even imagine the horror of trying to do that! Reconsider your quit date. Some say it's easier to quit in a different environment such as while on vacation because there are fewer triggers and your routine is already shaken up for you. You might find it actually makes those first days a little easier. Besides, why put it off at all. If you want to quit, just don't smoke. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 126 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,780 Amount Saved: $737.10 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 6 Mins: 50 Seconds: 2

One more try Make it easier on yourself and even though you are smoking, think about smoking less, putting off the next one until you get the next urge. Just try and cut down and be aware that you are smoking when you are smoking! Have a nice, save trip. Thanks guys. Goofy, you keep plucking that guitar and remind yourself daily what a better life you have without smokes. I'm glad to hear your wife is doing well too. Jodi, how could I forget you and your beautiful yellow Lab? And yes, I do have the Alan Carr book. I read it once but I think I'll read it again. I look forward to chatting with you in January. Goodbye for now. But not for long... Karen. I kind of figured when you hadn't posted that you were having a tough time with the holidays. My wife had a hard time as well. She was saying every day that she wanted a smoke. I'm sure that if she had tried to quit and I didn't, the same thing would have happened. Remember Karen, this is a powerful addiction, and you almost made two months! You're quitting for yourself. You're an Octobreather, and we are stronger then cigarettes. You'll do it again, and we'll be here for you. Karen, don't give up quitting. I'm happy to hear you're going to start again on Jan. 14. That's great. Yes, it will help if your husband quits too. You'll have each other to support. Oh my gosh Karen! I'm so sorry to hear this. The Octobreathers will never be the same without you! You helped us so much and you were doing so well! You better be back girl. January 14th we'll be waiting for you! Get yourself super prepared, OK?! A lot of people really love Allen Carr's book. From what I understand it works well to start reading it before you quit. Please consider getting his book ASAP. Next time you will know that you can not have a puff, and it may be best to avoid partying for a while to protect what you work so hard for. And Karen, no trying next time, just do it! See you SOON, and we'll still be buddies! OK, confession time....Yes, I slipped and I slipped hard! :( I just couldn't make it through the holidays. It started with a night out for drinks and I somehow convinced myself I could have 'just one'. I know! I know! NOT ONE PUFF EVER! I kept hearing that voice in my head, but I couldn't fight it. I smoked about five cigarettes that night. The next day when my husband lit up and I knew I had already slipped, I figured one more day wouldn't hurt. And I had a party to go to the next night that I knew I would have a hard time with....Oh I know, the JUNKIE was feeding me lines! I was weak and continued to smoke. Now, I am smoking again. Every day. I am trying hard not to feel guilty. I have accepted that it is not going to happen this time.. One More Try is going to have to give it one more try! I am planning a trip to Mexico in just over a week for my sister's wedding. I am getting really excited. This was supposed to be a smoke-free vacation for me but now I don't think I can do it. I want to enjoy myself and I know I will be stressed and miserable if I try to quit again. Yes, I have slipped so far that I will have to go through hell week all over again! What have I done to myself!!? So, I've re-set my quit meter for January 14. I hope you will all still be here when I come back. Goofy and Sprquits, especially. You guys have helped me so much. I feel as though I have failed you and the Octobreathers. :( But you guys are doing so awesome! Keep up your enthusiasm, motivation and your quits. My husband has agreed to try to quit if I can stay smoke-free for six months. This is really good news! I know I can't blame him for my slip, but I am always tempted when I know he is smoking. I really want us to both quit, so I think this will be a good motivator for me. Thanks to everyone for being so supportive and inspirational. I promise to come back January 14 with a renewed determination. Karen.
