Kev,
I am still really proud of you for getting through that car journey - that was a huge victory.
I just want to say that it is absolutely OK for you to still have thoughts and desires about smoking. In fact I certainly did when I was where you are now. But, I knew from the people who helped me that this phase would pass. And that is why I am here now, in thanks to the people who got me through.
It is also my job to help you recognise and kill junkie thoughts! It is a kind of antidote to addiction.
You said "I guess all that really matters is that I don't get to the point of lighting up that cigarette again no matter how much or how strong my junkie thinking is.". Yes - that is it absolutely. The great news is that one day it won't bother you at all. When you look back in a year's time, you will appreciate the struggle that you went through to be free. That's why Lamplighter's motto is "Free at Last". It's not just your health that benefits, it is also self-esteem and self-confidence.
So little fire cracker, let's not worry about the months ahead, your next mission is getting through your first Christmas and the 6 months milestone in January.
Keep with the baby steps.
Lizzie :)
