New here and need to quit

16 years ago 0 251 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Way to go Keeshia for being smoke free. We all have different reasons to quit. For me I knew that I had to for my health. My mother died of C.O.P.D. and I was heading in that direction too. It took a while before I actually did quit but I'm happy that I did. It was about time. Keep hanging in there. Keeshia, Welcome to the SSC! A lot of smokers struggle with this question and perhaps looking at what you get out of keeping this habit may help you. Why do you smoke? Where? When? With whom? If you take a stroll through the program located in your glove compartment, you'll find exercises and lots of educational pieces that can help you get ready for your quit. And of course, we are always here to answer questions so be sure to keep posting. Happy holidays! We hope to hear from you again soon. Danielle, Bilingual Health Educator

NTQ, Congratulations on 2 days! Please note that your immune system does have a tendency to take a nose dive as your body is working furiously to undo the damage smoking introduced. Take good care of yourself. Danielle, Bilingual Health Educator

My husband and I decided to quit together also. I thought it would be harder that way but it really was nice. He understood what I was going through and was able to be more supportive and the same for me. We took long, long walks together (weather didn't matter)and we really learned more about each other. It brought us closer together going through such a hard time together. Just remember you are only doing this to better yourself and your loved ones. This is a great thing and all the luck in the world to you. W. I'm happy that you're not smoking Dee. It would complicate things otherwise. I hope you don't get pneumonia. Anyway, keep up the good work. Need to quit, Congratulations on making it through your first day! Start to give yourself some small rewards like treating yourself to a coffee or magazine, or going for a walk to unwind, or a long bath. You can change how many cigarettes you smoked per day in your personal profile. It will them reset yoru quit meter for how many cigarettes you haven't smoked. Brenna, Bilingual Support Specialist
