Kelly - welcome. Nonic and others are so wise so read their posts often. For me - Chantix was a Godsend and I am totally off of it now (with doctor's approval). I agree, lots of water and as you can see - I am the Queen of suckers (that doesn't sound right does it?) -- they definitely help the hand to mouth fix. You will find an inner strength you never knew you had. Oh - and keep an eye on your milestones. They add up SOOO fast! lots of luck to you, Kelly If you have heard the song "Get your head in the Game"... that's all you need to know. Mind over matter.. It's amazing what we can do when we make our mind up to tackle a problem. Kelly Welcome and good on you for making this decision. You will find many a soul here who is with you on your quest. Read all that you are able to about the addiction, find folks with whom you identify. We have all had similar experiences as we pass through this portal and you will find that certain ones among us will resonate with you more clearly than others. That is a good thing as everyone's quit is different. We have each arrived in different ways, but the goal remains the same. For me quitting has been much more than the cessation of an act...It has involved a great deal of soul searching, discipline and most of all a desire to better myself by ridding my body of an invading force. If you have a mind to, write about your experience or keep a private journal. I personally have absolutely no compunction about sharing details of my struggles. I always think that if one person gets something from my experience than personal disclosure is of little concern to me. I figure it is what it is...But I would encourage you to try to understand why you smoke...Once there is a clear understanding , you will be able to understand why you don't smoke anymore...Those reasons will help you maintain your quit... Stay well and quit nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 325 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,750 Amount Saved: $3,412.50 Life Gained: Days: 59 Hrs: 9 Mins: 43 Seconds: 35

I took chantix also, I did find using the nicotine tablets helped the first week, mostly after dinner was my strongest craving. Good Luck, use your will power and you will be succesful.
