Well LIL live wire, i know by now you are feeling alot stronger, its ok to get a little on the funky side, it happens in the quit, but as time goes by you will have more good days than bad :):) this my friend is true. I want to know how to grow sunflowers :) Tresa My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/8/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1907 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 38,140 Amount Saved: $6,674.50 Life Gained: Days: 268 Hrs: 22 Mins: 31 Seconds: 12

Kev, Yes, it sounds like you may be lonely or bored. Getting the gardening going might help, as would planning little field trips. Hard to do, though, if you still don't trust yourself to pass a shop. Maybe you could start experimenting with that a bit? Go for a walk where you have to pass a shop with the agreement from someone in your family that they will come look for you if you're not back in X amount of minutes? Or pass a shop with someone else with you, really telling yourself that in the PAST you would have bought smokes, but that was then, this is now, and NOW you don't smoke so you wouldn't dream of buying smokes. Then repeat, until the anxiety has passed. No good being a prisoner in your home. You'll have to figure out something sooner or later. You need to retrain your mind for that trigger just like you have for many other triggers. Kev, if you think you're having trouble with the emotional part of your quit, Im afraid you have to concentrate sonme energy on changing that. It isn't that you "arent able to cope", it's that you are used to smoking instead of coping and now you want some other distraction from your feelings. You have to feel them, Kev, that's why they're called feelings. Sorry, but it's true. I know it's scary, but it's a lot like the quit itself. Once you commit to it and get through the first realy hard part, you feel so much better & it's very liberating, & self-esteem boosting, too. Next time, you think you're craving, take a minute to sit down and examine what is really going on in your world. Be honest with yourself and don't let the junkie have the floor at all. You will probably find that you are angry, sad, lonely, frightened, frustrated, or bored. Just the acknowledgment of the emotion is a big positive step. Try it next time,OK? I haven't been to FB yet, today, but I'll look for the sunflower pics. That's such a cool thing you did. Keop hanging in, you know how proud we are of you & what an awesome job you're doing! Morning All. I kinda got wrapped up with working out dedications for everyone last night. Phil, nice to see ya! Now what should I grow in the winter? I'm going to keep the SSC gardening thing going. In fact I now have a dedicated SSC bit of land. Today we harvested the SSC sunflowers and I took a picture of the proceeds (maybe that should be pro-seeds :). Eventually it will end up on FB. It was a top idea because I could see something growing as well as my quit. Weekend wise I'm not having the greatest. I'll be back in work mode tomorrow and watching everyone else smoke, so that will calm me down. I'd like to thank Sue for talking some sense into me and Unhooked for doing the same. I'm embarrassed as to how easily fustrated I get at the moment and how close I have come to caving over the most stupid tiniest things. This weekend was very close I feel. Possibly it is related to me not being able to cope with emotions still. Or the fact that I roam around like a trapped lion just following people in and out of rooms where I would normally just be outside smoking like a trooper. Back to trying to work on the positives again me thinks. By midweek I will be happy again. Thats it from me for the weekend. Hope everyone has a great Sunday. I am off to unwind in a patchouli bath, which normally does the trick. HUGS from Kev p.s. Gen, lovely to see you back. Hope you had a great hols. So what was your dance then? The scottish way sounds a great way to celebrate. Sue, I asked both my parents what that term meant and they didn't know either! With my sheltered life it is no wonder I am learning new terms every day. If I gooooogle it will the police be around my house in a shot? :) Kelly, I will try to beat that score sometime :) ... but I am impressed. Your 14 year old son sounds like a great bloke! Can you say thank to him for me. I'm really glad anything I write means anything to anybody. Just ranting. I will be better sometime. Ranting is a more acceptable alternative to smoking. Welcome back, Gen! Kev - my 14yr old son (reading over my shoulder) just said to me "i like that chess guy. remember? - apathy didn't come because he didn't care who won?" Did you ever think one of your musings would make an impact on a high-school freshman from Colorado, US? I think that's pretty cool. :8|: My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 63 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,890 Amount Saved: $368.55 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 16 Mins: 26 Seconds: 6

Hi Kev. Hi Phil. Hi Unhooked. Hi Everyone! Back from holiday. Still smoke free. Hope everyone is well. A lot seems to happen in a couple of weeks round here. Kev: Re Trick or Treating. It has become an American import to England but in Scotland we always had a similar tradition where kids dressed up and went door to door and had to sing, dance or recite a piece of poetry to get their treat. No threats/tricks were mentioned in those days.
