Good Morning All, I'm sorry about going nuts yesterday. I just signed on this morning and was totally taken aback by the lovely support (of course I shouldn't have been because I know what a caring bunch of friends you are). First of all I am going to take my own feel good inc advice and say that I am proud that I have made it this far smokefree or even tried at all. It is something I have to be happy about. I am also going to take everyones advice as it is a clear message amongst all the replies. One thing going for me is that i will not suffer from quit over-confidence and when/if I do finally make it outside properly I will be alert of the dangers to my quit. Like a bunny rabbit emerging from its safe burrow for the first time, I could navigate the road and find the field and play or do what bunny rabbits do, or I could get flattened under the wheels of a car before I make the field. :) A Watership Down of quits! :) I think there are other factors at play in my wobble including the possibility that I could be an uncle by Thursday at the latest. That scares me a lot and has been on my mind. It amazes me that anyone has any chance of surviving birth. If all goes well then I will be a lot less stressed than I am at the moment. Last nights dinner time discussion was about amneotic fluids. I'm going to wait until after everything birth wise before going out and actually releasing myself from my home prisonership. You will of course know when I do and how I coped as there will be a coffee-time thread on it to enjoy :) As with most previous wobbles, I am on the mend again. It normally takes 1 week max for me to totally return to normal. So by Wednesday next week a more relaxed Kevin should emerge. It is also after my dentist appointment which I also have been getting worked up about! Thats my feeble explanation for my wobble anyway. So today is a SUPER HUGE HUG for everyone who gave me advice. Thanks! hey Kev, I will second those hugs and advise - the whatever it takes to succeed method. If that is one hour, 4 hours, 1 day at a time then fine. Some approach quits like a bull in a china shop - ie. John, had me in a full on smoky bar the first week we quit while I bawled like a nutter because i was there. Some avoid places where people smoke. I am quite sure I would have avoided everything, and now I do - but I still get out and about and carpe diem and all that. and I fully expect you will too Kev. It is your quit love, just keep it safe and you will be fine. Take some baby steps as you were advised. wine and chocolate is a for sure cure for PMT if that helps :) xo Sue My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/3/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 187 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,870 Amount Saved: $327.25 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 19 Mins: 59 Seconds: 56

Hi Kev, You know, I read thru your thread this morning (with my coffee, of course :)) and knew I wanted to say something to you but just didn't know what words to use. I thought about and thought about it and couldn't come up with anything compelling and perfect so I left for work without posting at all. Then I get back to my office this afternoon and again read thru your thread and what I felt needed to be communicated to you is right there, already written and in many fewer words than it would have taken me. (Albeit the English version of English is much different than the American version of English! I don't know how you Brits understand each other! :P) But seriously Kevin... How are you ever going to know that you can ride a bike if you never take your training wheels off? Get out...all by your self and be confident. You are fine! You have to stop setting yourself up to fail and set yourself up to succeed instead. Please stop telling yourself you can't do it. Please. :) ps - Have you ever heard the phrase, "fake it til you make it"? Well, if you are faking confidence and happiness, that isn't such a bad thing. Maybe if you do it long enough you'll convince yourself. Kev, you know that smoking can hide a lot of other problems and depression is a very common one. It's important to remember that smoking never actually HELPED, in fact it kept you from recognizing the problem and therefore from getting real help. You know there are people right here, including me, who have struggled or continue to struggle with emotional health issues. Can you imagine Lady or yours truly stuck in the house for 117 days, afraid to go anywhere, and not doing anything about it? Not bloody likely. If you think you are depressed, then for heaven's sake, see a doctor. There are so many treatments available now, nobody has to let a thing like that run their life anymore. You are a young, single guy and there isn't a good reason in the world for you to be stuck at home with your parents all the time. Pen is right, you should be going out, having fun, doing things & meeting people. Life is to be lived and it won't wait for you. You have to run after it & grab it like a train. Remeber, most of our regrets are for things we DIDN'T do. Kev, You have been having a bad day today. Don't worry about it too much. The rollercoaster moods will start to even out. I have seen it many times before.....and I have also seen the same people come through it. Keep your chin up. Hey JF, Too conservative; finger down your throat, medical chit for early departure and out on the town now! If you look hard enough, you'll find an excuse NOT to do everything there is to be done!! Like I said, it's out there! ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/18/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 1267 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 25,340 Amount Saved: 6,335.00 Life Gained: Days: 203 Hrs: 12 Mins: 38 Seconds: 32

Hi Pen, Actually I am thinking of changing my signature to that :) It is a great motto to life in general. Maybe JF, especially if I end up at that singles club :) I'm taking all advice and will see what I come up with. However, you sound like you know how to have a good time! So I am definitely with you on that. I'd better finish working first though. For someone who has stayed in for 117 days it sounds like heaven btw :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/12/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 117 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,925 Amount Saved: 491.40 Life Gained: Days: 14 Hrs: 16 Mins: 18 Seconds: 25
