Is constant hunger a symptom?

Skully, I too ate everything in sight when I first quit for about a month then started to go back to normal, small price to pay for being a non smoker. skully, I lived in the fridge for a while and it was dangerous for people to move too close to me! Very predatory!!! The weight gain was a small price to pay to beat the addiction and as the old saying goes here "You can lose 10lbs but you can't lose emphysema". In time (about a month in my case) the increased hunger will revert to the normal joy of former times! Good Luck :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/18/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 1261 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 25,220 Amount Saved: 6,305.00 Life Gained: Days: 202 Hrs: 13 Mins: 39 Seconds: 19

Wow, That was some quick responses. I just had a banana and I am working on a logic problem to try to keep my head in the clear. Today has been tough, and I am looking forward to the easier days. I am not fond of the hunger symptoms lasting a few weeks. I work out 4-5 times a week anyway, so hopefully I can keep some of the weight off. Thanks, everyone! Congrats on your quit! your hunger is totally normal. I ate everything that wasn't nailed down and gained about 12-15 lbs in a month. The hunger is going away now though. Not hungry ALL the time like I was before. Starting to take the extra weight back off as well. Just one of those things that might have to be dealt with on a quit. A couple of extra pounds is STILL better than smoking, and easier to lose! The short answer: Yes! I ate and ate and ate some more for the first few weeks. Some of it was the oral fixation but I was actually very hungry as well. Something to do with how nicotine released sugars into our system tricking it into thinking it wasn't hungry... All I know is I was amazed at how much I wanted to eat and how often I wanted to eat it! (I believe I ate the kitchen sink at one point!) It levels out like everything else. Hang in there. Today is the big one. If you can make it thru day one, you can make it a lifetime! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 66 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,980 Amount Saved: $386.10 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 23 Mins: 5 Seconds: 58

LOL! Skullyfrost, I think this is something all of us did was to eat everything in sight. I know I went through an awful lot of chocolate covered peanuts. Tips: Finger foods, cut up lots of veggies with dip, licorice, hard candy, gum, peppermints, sunflower seeds. bing cherries, straws and coffee stir stix, and nozzly things. LOL did I miss any?? Do whatever it takes. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 239 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,975 Amount Saved: $2,521.45 Life Gained: Days: 29 Hrs: 6 Mins: 16 Seconds: 22

Ok guys, only on day 1 and I have been on the Chantix for 8 days and I have been trying to cut down steadily for this day. The one problem is that I am always hungry! My stomach is growing all day long. I eat breakfast lunch snack and dinner and it never ends. I figured if it was just bordom hunger I would know but my stomach keeps on growling. Any ideas on what I should do?
