My first day on Chantix

16 years ago 0 541 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I poped my first chantix pill about 6 months ago. Now 6 months later the smell of cigarettes makes me want to puke. Be committed, it is really not that difficult. Try using chewing gum or hard candy while you are driving. Early on, I used blow pop suckers while I was driving. It's tough, but it gets better quickly. Skullyfrost AS grin318 said give the hantix a chance to build up in your system, I also would pop a piece of mint gum in my mouth as son as I got in the car that along with the Chantix really helped me. Hi Skullyfrost, Give the Chantix a chance to build up in your system. You will find it much easier to draw out the time in between your smokes and then when it comes time to totally stop, you will be ready. I have heard many great successful chantix stories. I am happy to say that I am one of them. Stay tough. Let us know how you're doing! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 94 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,820 Amount Saved: $451.20 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 11 Mins: 6 Seconds: 21

Skullyfrost, Don't be too hard on yourself. Practice makes perfect. You'll get use to not smoking in the car, it just takes time. Where are your distractions? Some members have found good music, sunflower seeds or sucking through a straw helpful. With regards to your antidepressants, be sure to keep in close touch with your MD. It's quite possible your medication will need to be adjusted once you quit smoking. Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

Don't worry too much at this point about how you're going to deal with driving in the car, etc. That's probably going to be a trigger for you, but don't overwhelm yourself. Give the chantix a chance to do its job. I felt differently after several days on it. It's just a tool and it won't do all of the work for you, but it can help tremendously. At this point just take it, stay firm to your quit date and the few days before you quit -- then start making firm plans about coping mechanisms in the car, etc. Congratulations on taking that first step. Stick with it! congrates on taking your first step with champix..i use champix about 6 weeks ago. and when i took the first step with champix i was thinking the same.. just go ahead and smoke the first week until the 30th and enjoy it it will be your last. it takes a week for champix to build in your system.. don't worry after a week if you really set your date.. you will stop by yourself.. i work at a casino and there everyone smokes.. i can still sit in the same staff room with them and still don't have one.. good luck

Today, was my first day on my Chantix. I also decided to stop smoking in my car as well. I thought I would go crazy. I am even on anti depressants and its bad. I couldn't wait to get to the smoke pit at work to have my first one of the day. I just didin't know what to think while I was driving. All I could think about was cigarettes. My quite date is 30 Oct. Right now, I just don't know.
