I used to get those dreams too, then one day they went away and I never even gave 'em a second thought. Cigarettes Not Smoked

17 years ago 0 317 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I had a dream a couple of nights ago that I was with friends and one of them gave me a cigarette. I lit it, was smoking it, then I looked down and saw it and kind of freaked me out. I felt like I ruined my quit and I would have to start all over. I'm on Chantix and I've had some really strange dreams. They usually don't bother me too much. Except the smoking one, one where a snake attacked me, and one where there was a bad car accident. I usually wake myself up when it gets like that. This site has definitely worked its way into my subconscious. I read this thread last night and..bingo! All night long I worried about how I was going to come here and tell everybody I'd slipped, smoked two cigarettes on my sailing vacation. Funny thing was, I could not for the life of me remember buying those cigs or what prompted me to smoke them. I was struggling and struggling with the guilt and whether to get rid of the pack. I was warring with the junkie. I knew I had to get rid of the rest of the cigs or it would be a full blown relapse, but I didn't want to. The phrase, "One leads to a hundred leads to a thousand" kept rumbling through my mind. Well, I woke up from a nap and there was the captain's son smoking away. I went up to the cockpit and sat down, still warring with the junkie...would I have one or not? I told them about how I'd quit after 36 years of smoking, up to 2 packs a day, and how I'd just blown my quit. They looked at me with pity and disgust. It hurt, but still I wasn't sure if I wanted to drown that pack of cigs. I thought, "Hmm, maybe I'll give it to the captain's son, then if I want one I can bum one from him." That's when I woke up for real. Whew! That junkie just never quits, does he? Can't get to me when I'm awake and on watch, so now he attacks when I'm sleeping, the coward!!! Cigarettes Not Smoked

Hey there Blue! So nice to see your cloud around. You are still my mentor - I look at your days and know I am soooo close. I actually have had only 2 dreams about smoking - one was so detailed I actually smelled the smoke when I woke up. All my other Chantix dreams were so x-rated I actually caught myself blushing in the morning. But then I remember... They fade but the wonderful realization that I am now a non-smoker lives on!
