Do you think you ever get back to weight you were when you smoked?

Congrats on 90 days.. You sounds like you are doing everything correct. My coach runs 5 miles a day... has no idea what she weighs.. She says, if her clothes fit great then she is happy!!! Maybe the scales aren't that important. Thanks for the reply's. I cant do any more than I am doing so I am just not giving myself a hard time at the moment which I did a lot. I am not overweight but I am 10pound heavier than I would like to be. I change my workout every 4 weeks as I know this stops me reaching a halt. I also do a full body workout which Included weight trainging an cardio. I do think maybe some part is that I weight heavier maybe because of gaining muscle but there is definatley some weight there also because some close are a little tighter than they used to be... But like I said before I am so happy to be smoke free that is the main thing. Im sure I will get there eventually but just didnt think 9 months down the road I would be struggling !! I wondering if you have gained muscle mass as you are working out more often. If so, you probably have lost any weight from fat gained after you quit but have gained pounds due to gains in muscle mass. Just a thought. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 46 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,380 Amount Saved: $269.10 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 2 Mins: 28 Seconds: 35

Lindak, Congratulations on 9 months! Celebrate and reward yourself well :) The last 10 are always the hardest to lose. You seem to be doing all the right things and you may want to check with a trainer or doctor to help you combat the last pounds you wish to lose. You body also goes through a plateau phase and this may the case. Do some research and change it up a little. Continue on your healthy path, you will get there :) Josie, Support Specialist

Hi Linda, welcome back and congratulations on your great quit! I think some people do get back, with a lot of hard work, and others do with not so much hard work. It has certainly been a struggle for me. A trainer that I worked with once suggested that I stop trying to do so much cardio, and that I bump up the weight training. Doing that seemed to help. Maybe you aren't eating enough calories...they say that eating too few calories can make your body hang onto the weight, or go into "starvation" mode. You might try one of the free on-line calorie tracking programs. Several of us here are sparky people, weight watchers, or fitdays. Good luck! Cigarettes Not Smoked

16 years ago 0 23 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
HI, I havent been on in a while. But I am just over 9 month off the dreaded cigs. and love it really do. I know you can never say never and never let your gaurd down but I dont think I could ever go back to smoking again! Anyway I was a really active person and done plenty of high intensity excercise while I was a smoker and weighed in and around 128 pounds.. Since quitting I have gained 10 pounds(I know this is not a huge amount) and also doubled the amount of excercise I do. I go to the gym now 5 times a week for two hours each time and do high intensity cardio and also incliude some weight training and cant seem to shift those 10 pounds other than cutting off my left arm it aint budging. My diet has always been and still is really healty and low in calories. When I snack I have fruit. And I have one treat day a week.. So my question is do you think that this is it, that we never get back to our pre quit weight ???
