Memories of smoking are probably the worst. You remember how good it felt, when in reality, even if you had one, it wouldn't be pleasant. I had one single puff a couple of months ago, it was enough to remind me that I'm in all respects a non-smoker. I still want one! I don't want to feel that badly again, so I'm not going to have one, but the memory is what I crave. The memory has replaced the cravings. Lady, With those stats.....NO WAY...NO HOW!! You have too much knowledge about smoking to even play with the thought. Don't look...Don't touch. It is all memories. The addiction confuses the memories. You may think that smoking eased the stress....but the addiction confused your brain. You REALLY REMEMBER it releiving a nicotine craving....but your brain associated it with what ever mood you were experiencing at that time in your memory. There's lots of choices to pick from to relieve stress. Why pick that? Make a list of things you can chose to do and let us read them. We can pick on out for you together. Folks, This was a couple of weeks ago and I'm fine now. The way to quit smoking is not to smoke no matter what comes our way. Don't ever judge a person until you walk a mile in their shoes. There are, can be, and probably will be things that happen in your life, even long after you are quit that make you think a cigarette may be in order. Refuse to give in to these thoughts. It is always one day at a time. Some days are just easier than others! Bobbi, Unhooked has my email address and my chat address. I'm really not on here much anymore. So what has changed recently in your life that is bringing up cravings / thoughts? And what if you could learn to handle these new emotions? What if you were to google "How to deal with anger, how to deal with anxiety, how to deal with bliss?" You need to learn how to feel those emotions and then let them go. Emotions are only feelings, they cannot kill you, cigarettes can and will! We learned how not to smoke by searching and researching the knowledge on how to do it, what to do where to go and who to talk to! I always thought that it is quit a bit harder on the women to quit than the men. I have nothing scientific to back this up, it is a feeling that I have had. I also believe that smoking is physically more damaging to women than men. Again nothing to back this up just what my senses tell me. Of course I could be all washed up and I don�t have the time to surf for the info. I am rooting for all of you gals, keeping hanging on, and do the don�t dwell thingy. I wishing it away for you to have it all go bye-bye. I have a twin sister who quit smoking 20 years ago. She told me awhile back that she quit for a year and then had just one, and then another one� My twin told me that the secret to quitting is to never tempt yourself and never think that you can have a puff. She is happy gal, she quit, she told me she doesn�t give it a thought anymore. You can too! I have learned to show respect for the addiction. Don�t play with fire (in this case matches). I am willing to bet that, most of us female emotional ex smokers will go through this from time to time. Mitri, I started a new discussion on this very topic in the general forum entitled "smoking and depression". I hope this may help you. You are not alone. Throughout my quit I have had thoughts. At this stage I am able to logically sit down and rationalize what I'm going through. It's kind of like planning a trip that I decide isn't worth taking and scrap all the plans. Lady, recently I, too, have been having hard time with the same recurrent idea that smoking would release my pain. So far I�m safe and after reading your post feel less ashamed of my impulsive thoughts. Knowing that it can happen to any of us at any time and any stage of our quit, creates a comfortable common sense. I shall repeat to myself that smoking would never dry my tears nor keep my nerves quiet.
