Thinking of Smoking

16 years ago 0 880 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Lady You have reached the point at which you can choose to keep choosing not to smoke. You and I know the difference between struggling to not smoke and having the luxury of owning the choice. I believe that you will continue to choose not to smoke, because you know way down deep that that choice has been hard won. I know that you also are fully aware that we no longer live behind the thin blue cloud and that our emotions are our own. We own them and therfore can determine what we will do with them. Now I don't know your situation, don't know what you are facing, haven't a clue about the pressures you are under. But the one thing I do know (and I know you are well aware of this) is that smoking will not make things change, only you can do that. So let the great mandela turn one more time, you can handle what ever presents itself, because you have learned how to present yourself sans cigarettes... nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 288 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,640 Amount Saved: $3,024.00 Life Gained: Days: 52 Hrs: 15 Mins: 53 Seconds: 23

Lady, Hands on the table and I don't want you to smoke. I don't know what to say, other than I wish that I could help you. We have been down this path before and the outcome was NOT NOPE. Would you like me to light up with you? I could if you ask me nicely. Trying to understand where the gain is. Describe it better for us. Lady All your firends are right. You have done such an amazing thing by stopping smoking and changing so many other things in your life in positive ways. You're just tired and maybe a bit overwhelemed with the new job and all, and the junkie is gnashing his teeth, trying to get you to cave when you're low. Think how good you will feel when you face whatever it is that is bothering you by once again not smoking, or after a nice long bath and a good night's sleep...or both :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 201 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,040 Amount Saved: $1,366.80 Life Gained: Days: 28 Hrs: 2 Mins: 44 Seconds: 55

Lady, you know that your life is richer in so many ways since you quit. You've told me often about how so many areas of your life have improved, and you don't think they would have if you were still smoking. You would not have had the confidence to go for the new job you're finding such a satisfying challenge, you would not have taken up golf & you love golf, you would not be as healthy in body & spirit and in turn you would not enjoy life as much as you do. You might not even have the wonderful relationship with a certain non-smoking someone whose name I won't mention but it rhymes with Shmicky. Lady, you have had quite a whirlwind going on around you lately, really a lot to deal with. Even positive changes can wear us out & that's all that's happening. The junkie in your head is always on the lookout for that & she's just squeezed in through that tiny, tired little chink in your armour. You know what to do, my friend. Get a reward, even a small one. Take a nice, long bath with candles & a cup of tea & reflect on your triumphant climb to the top of the mountain. Appreciate all the people who helped you & be proud of those you helped in return. You're not giving up your quit, Lady. You're not giving up on yourself, this too shall pass. You know where I am if you need me. Lady, Lady, stop it!! You are so right you are an addict and alway will be. Smoking will now send all those things into hiding, it will bring them to the fore front just to glare at you. You are functioning normally. You are just becoming aware of it. This dam addiction :eg: I was hoping that by two years the demon would be only a distant memory. I don't know what your extra baggage is, but smoking will not make it go away. It would only add more baggage. Besides there is a big difference thinking about something and actually doing it. So think about for 20 more minutes then stop it. (((HUGS))) Keep the Quit Sparky My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/30/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 162 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,620 Amount Saved: $486.00 Life Gained: Days: 21 Hrs: 21 Mins: 9 Seconds: 3

Lady, I just responded to you in the other place. Here is the junkie speaking but using your mouth:
Smoking would send all those emotions that I don't know how to deal with back into hiding and I could function "normally".
You say you have gained extra baggage from the quit? What kind of baggage did quitting leave you with? Are you really better off than you were two+ years ago when you quit? Only you can answer that, but I can tell you that you are certainly two years cleaner, two years healthier, and nearly $3,000 richer. Lady, I know you are reaching out for help...I'm hoping that someone will have the right words for you, because I'm sure hoping that you don't make a bad choice. Well... I think the new me is just perfect!!! So sorry that you have been thinking about smoking.. lately. You know it will pass. I hate dealing with some of the crap.. family, friends, work, negative people.. etc.... Everything seems a little harder to deal with, sometimes.. The good news is "WE DO NOT SMOKE"!!! Hello everyone. I have some crazy thoughts running through my head. The last couple of days have been really tough emotionally. I seem to have lost my footing. I've been thinking of smoking. Not because I'm craving a cigarette but probably more because I am still an addict. Even though I know that smoking won't help anything, for some reason I keep thinking it will remove the insane thoughts that run through my head. Smoking would send all those emotions that I don't know how to deal with back into hiding and I could function "normally". Pack my bags and walk away from the quit after all this time? I just don't know. I fought so hard for the quit and it took me so long to get to where I am. But... am I really any better off than I was a couple of years ago? There was a time when my quit was all I had to hold on to. I was proud of my quit. The honeymoon is over and the quit is part of my life. I simply don't smoke anymore. But I have gained all this extra baggage that I don't like and I'm not comfortable with the new me right now. I don't know.....
