Yes, you can overdose on Xanax. If your friend is thinking or talking of suicide, the VERY BEST thing you can do, is tell someone. Her doctor, a family friend..a counselor. Anyone. She is wanting help or she would not just talk about it.

I have a friend who takes Xanax for anxiety and also suffers from depression. On several occasions she has been distraught, saying she wanted to overdose on Xanax. I've read where it is actually very unlikely that one could od on this medication and have relayed that to her hoping it would deter any attempt and thank the lord to date, it has. I was wondering if anyone has any info or heard of anyone actually overdosing on this drug and if it is safe for someone who has suicidal tendencies. I want to get my facts straight and help my friend as best I can. I would appreciate any feedback. Thank you.
