Hi Mastermind - You are being far too hard on yourself at 12 days into your quit. I think that I would have gone bonkers if I tried to diet AND quit smoking at the same time. Having said that, drinking lots of water AND getting lots of exercise helps us to quit smoking AND lose weight. Our hearts and lungs are used to being clogged with smoke and nicotine....it's takes awhile for our metabolism to level out after we quit. I gained 10 lbs when I quit smoking...but after about 100 days I was ready to change my diet and lifestyle. Those 10 lbs are long gone as are another 15....Yours will go too...just give yourself some time. Take good care of yourself. Choose healthy snacks, sugar-free gum and candies, drink lots of water and exercise....but DON'T be too hard on yourself...the weight will come off...Honest! Drink heaps of water just before you eat, this makes you feel full & you won't eat to much exercise is the main one though. Use water to help curb those cravings! Also check with your doctor to come up with a healthy eating and reward plan that is right for your body. Save the rewards for once a week, or when you meet a specific goal. Get out there and walk! It will help with your metabolism and make you feel great! Josie, Support Specialist

Mastermind... Focus on your quit. Once your quit is solid, dieting will be much easier. The important thing now isn't your weight. Smoking is doing more damage to you than gaining 100 lbs would. Protect your quit at all costs, even weight gain. 7 lbs is nothing! Drink a lot of water, it helps with the craving and with weight gain. However , this time i am unable , i didnt gain weight since i quit smoking but i am unable to lose those 7 pounds cause every day I lose it and have a burger or fries or whatever , maybe it is because i am already stressed cause of the cravings ..
