How are you Jax? I hope you are holding your own against the junky think. We all know it's hard. Try to keep a positive attitude and stay busy to keep your mind occupied with productive exercises. Your school work is a great thing to have now; you need activities. Remember to plan out your time and not wait until the last minute to complete projects that require time to complete. I've found that staying busy not only helps with the craves, it helps reduce stress. If I stay active I'm always doing things I feel need my attention and it's harder to procrastinate. If I stay on top of my work I don't get behind and maybe get a little ahead (less stress). Stay with it Jax, you're doing great. How you doing Jax, You will learn to handle alll the many mental triggers to smoke. Stick with this dear...quit while you are young. Believe me, the longer that you stay addicted to nicotine, the worse it gets..a very progressive addiction. By quitting now, you are avoiding damaging your lungs, pre-mature wrinkles around your mouth, yellowing teeth, greyish tint to your skin and on and on. There is not ONE organ in your body that smoking does not harm..including your hair, your gums, your fingernails..cigarettes are poison. Get the mind set SMOKING IS NOT AN OPTION. You can handle life without it..we all can. It will get easier and easier, until one day, you are totally free. My best to you. new me My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 78 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,872 Amount Saved: $390.00 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 18 Mins: 3 Seconds: 42

Hi Jax, So far you're doing great but I think you should rest a little more. Being awake for hours on end doesn't do you good and when you get really tired you will only think about smoking and that is something you shouldn't do. So get some rest and when you wake up everything looks bright and you are ready for another smokefree day. All the best and hang in there. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/1/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 496 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 14,880 Amount Saved: 2,343.60 Life Gained: Days: 70 Hrs: 0 Mins: 24 Seconds: 22

Jax, Sounds like you are doing great to me. I was in my last year of college when I quit. Oh those papers were tough without the smokes. I would take a break, smoke and that was my "thinking" time. Hang on tight. You are going to do just fine and make it through all the papers too. I was in school full time, worked full time and had 3 kids at home by myself. If I could quit during all of that so can you. Congratulations on making it through Hell week!!!!! You are awesome! Hi Jax Week one is the toughest and you about have that licked. Try some ice water, suck on ice chucks, carrot, celery sticks, a little chocolate...Be good to yourself always. Your body will thank you over and over again for not smoking so will your pocket book. I see that you are twenty, great time to quit. Do your best and don't go back to it or you may end of like the some of us, quitting at a much later time in life, after some damage has been done in one way or another or more than ways that one. Let us know how the final worked out. Keep posting, hear! I see you are a star. Here is another one for you as you so deserve it! Hang on in there Jax - you're almost at a week and that's something to be really proud of!!! Lots of good advice here - chew on things (preferably healthy ones) man I had about 6 varieties of gum on my desk in the first week - extra strong minty, spearmint, licorice, hot cinnamon, menthol - you name it I had it, and I would cherw fresh gum every hour or so, interspersed with mints, cold water - whatever it took to avoide a smoke lol You can do this you know, and it will be worth more than any exam pass you could ever achieve!! Jax You are doing well...really really well. Just acknowledge that you're thinking about smoking because you associate studying with smoking. Tell yourself you USED to smoke when you studied. But you're not going to now. WHY? Beccause you're a non-smoker and nonsmokers don't smoke! Then get some ice cold water, a spoonful of some kind of treat, suck on some candy, twiddle a straw or a hollowed out pen, breathe through them. The urge will pass, and you won't have a headache or sick stomach from that yucky nicotine and thousands of chemicals. I'm very proud of you, Jax. What are you gonna reward yourself with tomorrow with that money you saved? hang in there...I'll talk with you on im if you need to -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 141 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,640 Amount Saved: $958.80 Life Gained: Days: 19 Hrs: 16 Mins: 0 Seconds: 37

Man, I have a paper due at ten plus the final exam. I've been up for a while now. Studying for tests was the time that I smoked the most cigarettes and tonight is very very hard. I didn't know where else to come to.. I feel like my stomach needs it. My head is aching and having that stupid cigarette in my hand is all I can think about. I keep telling myself that it will pass and I know it will, but, gosh! I wish I never would have started smoking! I'm doing ok so far because like I said, i keep telling myself that these "cravings" will go away and the benefits are way better than a quick "fix"..this is my 6th day smoke free. I can't let myself down! Wish me luck:) I hope everyone else is doing well!
