Hi Phil, Nice to see you're still around. Getting close to 1 year for you!
Well I have survived the pub still smoke free for the second time in a month. Watching others smoke gives me a strange resolve to carry on with my quit. I can't explain it.
Now that I have worked out my watch training program I can even find out how many calories I have burned (713). It tells me to do 1h 30m a week and even tells me to stop smokiing 2hrs before each session :)
I guess you could say that it was a spot on reward. Walking or running anywhere is of course a major smoking association for me hence it was not unexpected that I was craving like a madman half way through my run. I took no cash so could not buy any cigarettes.
Anyway, just popped in to do my promise.
I promise to my friends at SSC and my quit buddy, that I WILL NOT SMOKE today.
Get through today and thats another danger weekend done!

Hi peeps,
The watch finally arrived Yippee. Now I am attempting to work out how to use the coach function. So far I see it has 'Hard, 'Medium' and 'Soft' but where is 'Couch Potato'?
:)
I worked out my normal heart rate is 79bpm. I would have liked to have seen it when I smoked.
Ex-Roller, great, yes I loved them. Especially the last one, which probably isn't too far from the truth.
Aloha, well you see it does get through to my skull eventually. :)
QBA = Quit Buddy Appreciation. It basically means that as long as my quit buddy is still quit I can't smoke. It is the second parachute if the first does not work and I have used it quite a bit. Lucky for me it works. Its all good while she is still quit.

I loved reading this,

That is a good thing because of the intensity of craves right now, which I know will pass in time.

That let me know how far you've come in this process. You are now in control of it.
I have to confess..I don't remember the red shoes. I'm old, ok? My memory is just not what it used to be. Would you please remind me? Oh, and what is QBA? I was thinking it was Quit Buddy something...but what???
Loved that list....lol...there is a book with a ton of those...can't remember the name of it tho..lol
Interesting, that you figured out you used to go to the pubs primarily to be able to smoke as much as you wanted. I always wondered why you smoked so much there. Isn't it interesting to observe the smokers and yourself now as a nonsmoker?
Have a wonderful, relaxing weekend (fingers crossed)

I fully intend to be here when you are back, still not smoking. I'll be making my promises every day during the weekend. Plus the QBA effect ensures I don't smoke ..every time. And my quit buddy is back from Scotland next week just to visually enforce that keep quit trigger. That is a good thing because of the intensity of craves right now, which I know will pass in time.
Best wishes and hugs
Kev

Kev, my amazing friend!
Three weeks smoke free, plus a couple of days. I am not usually one to say "I told you so", but I will make an exception in your case.
Hoping you don't have to work this weekend, and I know your desire to stay quit is stronger than your desire to smoke. I am comfortable leaving you in such capable hands for a week...stay with the promises, they are working!
When I get back you will be celebrating your ONE MONTH anniversary...smoke free! FANTABULOUS!
Pamper yourself in fine style, and pat yourself on the back for me! Hope your watch arrives in good order. Enjoy the weekend, make it a great one!
xoxoxo
