Hmmmm...is there such a thing as a semi-closet smoker? I didn't have to be a closet smoker but I avoided smoking when I was with non-smokers (The problem was that eventually I started avoiding non-smokers because I needed to feed my addiction) Did anyone ever chain smoke 2 cigarettes in a row so that they could get enough nicotine in their system? I didn't smoke around my co-workers but, on breakaways, I had to give in. They would be soooooooo surprised by how much I smoked because they had never seen me smoke during the day. Meanwhile, I maybe smoked 7 or 8 cigarettes tops (in comparison to my pack a day habit) and was in a constant state of nicotine withdrawal (I would seriously try to pack 2 cigarettes into each visit outside or else buy a stronger brand of cigarettes to try and get enough nicotine) Same thing at family events.....always trying to sneak outside when nobody was looking to get my fix. Phew....glad that's over! I'm in this category too. I smoked only around my husband and very closest friends. Never around coworkers, family, or acquaintances. There are a lot of us around.... Hi Mercy, i didnt choose to be a closet smoker, i had to , i could not face my family and tell them i was smoking again, to shameful. And closet smoking is the pits, its hard work, causes 3 times more anxiety, that feeling of being caught, then the expense of buying air freshner, floral sprays, tons of gum, to cover the smell. The sneaking and hiding, the making of excuses to get out to relieve the pangs, the DANGER... i nearly fell out the bloody window trying to sneak a cigi, whoo!!! not worth it, walked 4 miles in a blizard to buy them darn things, nearly had frost bite, so not worth it....always looking forward jeanigirl My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 35 Amount Saved: $9.5 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 7 Mins: 5 Seconds: 57

Hi everyone, I am so amazed at the amount of closet smokers. I had been a closet smoker for about 17 years or so. I thought I had been the only one on earth. Can you tell me why you guys were closet smokers? Did you chose to be... or did you have to be. Just curious. mercy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 99 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,993 Amount Saved: $442.53 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 22 Mins: 18 Seconds: 44
