Chris The emotional part of this can be difficult. but rewarding at the same time. Stay with this long enough and you will find ways to deal with the full range of human emotion sans cigarettes. Once you become armed with this knowledge you will begin to understand how powerful and creative you really are. You will also understand that we have dulled our emotions with nicotine and in effect never really learned how to experience all those highs and lows to good affect. Stay with it, IT CAN BE DONE... Stay well and strong nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 220 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,600 Amount Saved: $1,540.00 Life Gained: Days: 40 Hrs: 6 Mins: 8 Seconds: 19

Chris How are things with you today?? This is my second quit in 12 months. I quit last summer for about 90 days. I could breathe, bike ride, and run.. For some reason I thought that i could have one cig a day for about a week. The next thing I knew... I was back to pack a day.. I am using the patch during the day and using PM drug for the evening and sleeping like a baby. this is the beginnin for day four and this quit has been much easier than the first. The cravings pass... good luck M My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/30/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 60 Amount Saved: $9.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 8 Mins: 30 Seconds: 5

Chris, if you dig around you will find some of my earlier posts. Smoking sometimes masks symptoms of existing problems so as your body is healing it might just be normal to feel like crap. (if that makes sense) I kinda feel I went through the ringer. Keep your doctor in the loop. Katie, Welcome and congrats on day 3! What your feeling is normal and it will pass. Your body is trying to heal and you will experience symptoms and emotions. Take the time to relax yourself and take it easy, make a pledge every day to keep quit and prepare for those tough days. The program and support group is always available to guide you! Hello everyone. I have quit and started so many times I cannot even count. I am on day three and I have realized that one of the reasons I have had such a hard time quitting is because I become an emotional wreck. Not only am I SO depressed but I cry at the smallest things. It is SO frustrating to know this stupid chemical has completely altered my brain. When it wants its FIX it makes me feel depressed until it gets it. Does anyone else here become so emotional like I do?? thanks everyone, you are my only support through this terrible time. -Katie

Chris, Congrats! I can totally relate to the burning lungs. I have been trying to jog on the treadmill. The first few days it felt like I was swallowing hot knives! I could onnly last like two minutes the first time. And yes, I think about smoking everytime I finish working out. I guess my brain is tired of all of that pesky oxygen... Keep up the good work! Hi Cris, I'm also new on this site. It helping me alot so far. Just wanted to let you know how i think it's a good idea that you started going on bike rides with your daughter. I've stopped for a little over 4 weeks now. Every week, i try to take walks with one of my sisters. Sometimes we walk around a mountain...but onces we decided to climb it to the top. It took me around 45 minutes to get there. OH MY GOD....was i tired. When i finally got to the top, i looked like Rocky in one of his movies...I was jumping up and down with my arm in the air....feeling soooo proud of myself. Once again, congradulation on your quit. Keep being active and building new memories with your daughter. Till next time, Stephanie

Chris, you are doing great! The craves will slow down. It helped me to think of my little girl everytime I felt like I might give in. Snapped me right back to attention. I couldn't imagine what the look of disappointment would be on her face if I gave in. You can do it! You're doing absolutely great, Chris....noting the thought and moving on....doing whatever it takes to not smoke. I hope you're drinking plenty of water, giving yourself little rewards, and pampering yourself. This is hard work at first, but does get better. Keep us posted. -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 132 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,280 Amount Saved: $897.60 Life Gained: Days: 18 Hrs: 9 Mins: 58 Seconds: 16
