Right before I forget : I promise to my SSC friends and my quit buddy that I WILL NOT SMOKE today. And now it is the longest I have ever gone smoke free. I'll work on my dopamine levels once my hangover clears. You're right as normal, it is important. I'm willing to do anything that makes me feel better, especially as I am about to be under constant monitoring next week due to last weeks 'stability' issues. Joyful, don't worry, any advice is good advice. I don't get offended. Bear, I guess I escaped a mauling then? :) Nance, I hope I haven't put you off fishing? I won't let my guard down today as I have two more big triggers coming up this afternoon. Speak later. Hi Guys, As promised heres the report from the pub. Lets just say that I made it through the whole thing (10hours)smoke free. Yippee!! I gave anything that could be put into a cigarette machine to the barstaff. No coins? No problem! Sitting outside watching my friends smoke is an unusual experience. Yes I too was suprised that the doc gave me that advice, especially after most of my quit notes say 'Went to pub, killed quit'. But I have done it now. Joyful, yes I was very very unsure about it but I also decided to take all advice from my doctor and act upon it. Doctors aren't always right of course. :) 11th day, still not smoking!! Good morning kev I hope your pub experiment went okay. I'm with Sue on the exercise...you need to get your dopamine level up. Maybe you and your quit buddy could do something together? Oh! and comedies!!!! Laughing also stimulates release of dopamine. Proud of you, kev -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 122 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,880 Amount Saved: $829.60 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 0 Mins: 14 Seconds: 37

He suggested that I do go to the pub as getting my social life back will help a great deal. This one I am not so sure about. Maybe 1hr max tomorrow. LISTEN TO YOURSELF :) IF YOU'RE NOT SURE THEN DON'T DO IT, IT'S THAT SIMPLE. I will be going to the pub as advised today. Normally this ends my quit within minutes (SO WHY ARE U TAKING THE CHANCE AGAIN? DOING THE SAME THING OVER & OVER & EXPECTING DIFFERENT RESULTS EQUALS INSANITY & ADDICTION IS INSANE & CHAOTIC), so I have made preparations. I phoned the barstaff last night to let them know that I will be on day 10 not smoking on Saturday (today) and that I may not stay that long. I plan to spend no more than 2hrs (YOU WENT FROM 1 HOUR TO 2 HOURS?) instead of my average 12hrs and have pre-arranged a pickup time too. Lots of planning have gone into it so I hope it helps me not to screw it up. SWEETIE WHY NOT JUST STAY HOME AND WATCH A GOOD MOVIE? IT WOULD BE MUCH EASIER AND YOU WOULD NOT BE RISKING YOUR QUIT. DO YOU REALLY HAVE A DESIRE TO QUIT SMOKING? U HAVE TO BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF. There are so many fun things to do besides going drinking at the pub :) Go to the movies, out to eat, shopping, to a friends house, read, play a game, call someone you haven't talked to in awhile. Do something positive and the results will be postitive. :) You're worth it! I hope you're not feeling attacked by my post, I wouldn't want to hurt your feelings in anyway. It sounds like you really want to quit and you're doing sooooooooo GOOD :) That's why I don't understand why you would go to such preperations to put yourself in a place where the odds are against what you're trying to do? Why not just take a break from the pub for awhile until you're stronger in your quit and the odds won't be so stacked against you? What is so very important in this pub that you can't seem to stay away from? Listen to yourself, you sound smart. U say u know you shouldn't go but then u go? Why are u setting yourself up to fail? And I don't know if you're planning on drinking at the pub, but if so, remember alcohol is a depressant and from what u said in your post it may not be a good idea at the moment? Just breathe....... Hiya JDK, congrats, you're doing an awesome job! I wonder if your doctor is an addict? I wonder if he's ever tried to kick an addiction to smoking or anything of the sort? Personally I think the suggestion for you to go to a pub was not a wise one. Just breathe....... Nope, no fishing this weekend. I am just going to hang around here and check up on my SSC friends, and enjoy my ride on the quit train. The air is clean and fresh, my lungs are loving it, the drinks are cold and refreshing, the chocolate is top shelf... Why would I leave? On to Montreal.....
