Happy Yay Day Kev! And during Heck week no less! Amazing!!! You sound so much better! I see you are posting support for others, all happy and positive thoughts! Your sense of humour is coming back strong! You are singing! (ok, at least humming) Yes, it's a YAY day! Keep it up...stay positive, even if it's hard to do so. But then, you haven't always chosen the easy way, have you? You are DA MAN! xoxoxoxo Nance My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/14/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 160 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,800 Amount Saved: $776.00 Life Gained: Days: 22 Hrs: 7 Mins: 48 Seconds: 41

Hi Aloha, don't cry. Big hug from Kev. Yes I am sticking to the plan. Today I am working on pretending the white knuckles are loosening a bit in the hope that they actually do loosen. My parents were worried about me due to my mindstate last night and the fact that I have a very big meeting with my manager this morning. But I saw the posts here and decided to try and brighten myself up a bit. So far I am doing well. I've been lucky that I have exploded at a time when someone is around to pick me up, quell my thinking, turn me back round like one of those wind up soldiers. I'm still working on the sleep thing too. I managed 1 hour last night. This is a kev 'yay day'. (Thats an Animal Crossing reference btw) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/12/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 12 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 300 Amount Saved: 50.40 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 12 Mins: 48 Seconds: 41

Just hanging around and reading burning time whilst waiting for the other side of the pond'ers to wake. :) Keeping on the positive tip so far. Lots of post reading. My favourite quote so far I have seen is from mercy : 'You guys with 30 days and under. PLEASE trust me. If you stick with this IT WILL GET BETTER. NOT ALL BETTER......BUT MUCH BETTER...WAY BETTER....HUGE BETTER.' There's got to be something about this post 30 day thing. I've seen it written quite a bit. Anyway, I just liked it and made me smile. Hi guys. Whigfield 'Saturday night' (la di da de da de da). :) You know that works in the same way as asking you to not think of a blue elephant. :) Today I will be attempting to build some positive energy. It is day 13 today, only two days away from completing heck week. It is not unlucky. How can it be, I have some friends pulling me through it. I didn't manage to deconstruct the quit jealousy trigger, so I will attempt to put it to the back of my mind to deal with another day. Whilst I am not smoking, I always have the chance to revisit it here at a later date, when I am more logical. Today I am determined to be or at least act happy. :) Smileys will abound from my every post. I WILL NOT SMOKE TODAY (my daily pledge to SSC friends and my quit buddy). Lolo, I assume Phil asked both of us to start the TUESDAY GOOD NEWS PARADE! I'm glad for that as I have a memory of a goldfish :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/12/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 12 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 300 Amount Saved: 50.40 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 12 Mins: 19 Seconds: 29

Good morning, Kevin. Rise and shine. Today is lucky day 13! Why is it lucky? Because today you will face another trigger somewhere and you will work through it. I know it! Each one gets a bit easier, just keep your wits about you, keep your resolve in your pocket, keep your eye on the prize, and a song in your head going round, and round, and round all day long. If I knew which song would make you absolutely crazy, I would tell you. That way you would have it running through your mind all day long... in those spare moments when you need a focus point. So pay attention... it will be the first song you hear after reading this. You'll have to tell me what it is! Have a GREAT (non-smoking)DAY! One thing at a time, one moment at a time, one day at a time. You mentioned feeling suicidal in one of your posts. Alcohol is a depressant. Not a wise choice to drink. Yes the 1st couple of drinks will make u think you feel better but before you know it you're crying or hurting or throwing up or laying on your bed with the room spinning or waking up to someone that u don't even remember their name, or going to the doctor to get a shot b/c u caught an std, or not remembering where u left your car, or waking up feeling like Shi% with your head banging and stomach upset and no energy. Why the heck quit smoking if you're still going to keep hurting yourself by drinking? But then I quit drinking for 11 yrs and still kept hurting myself by smoking. In other words recovery is a life-long process. It's all about living and learning until we die. And we are all on an equal playing field but our choices do determine the outcome. No one can or think that it's ok for them to judge another person. All I know is that I hated that lonely feeling, that feeling like "here I am all alone in this world & if I decide to kill myself nobody will probably even miss me or realize that I'm gone for awhile". I hated feeling all alone in this big world! Drinking is the absolute worst choice when you're feeling suicidal because alcohol "is a drug" and it is a depressant. Smoking won't screw up your judgement and make u drink but drinking WILL screw up your judgement and DECREASE your odds of remaining smoke-free. Ok, now forget everything you just read and close your eyes and take a deeeeep breath in and let it out slow. Now just do your best to stay in the moment. Don't worry about the past or what may come tonight or tomorrow or the next day, month or year. Just feel yourself right here, right now and allow yourself to really feel whatever it is that you're feeling. You have a right to your feelings and the way you feel does matter. And people do care about you. You just have,,,well we all just have to learn to care more about ourselves and realize that we are all precious. I'll bet as you're reading this, someone is thinking about you and hoping that you're happy and having a blessed day :) What I've learned is that there are people who loved me but I couldn't see it b/c I didn't love myself. Only I can change myself. And once you start doing the work to change yourself then and only then will your surroundings and other people change. Because you will be looking at the world through differen't eye's & you won't feel lonely or need to smoke or drink to escape from the reality of how you're seeing things today. It's a long road but you have taken a big step in the right direction. Knowledge is power. I hope if you're not already that you will find a counselor to help you to start this process. We all need help. This site is absolutly fantastic but nobody here can litterally reach out and hug you and sometimes we all need a real hug. Counseling has helped me to grow up emotionally & find some balance in my life :) Just like you go to a mechanic when you don't know how to fix something on your car, you go to a counselor when you don't know how to change. I'm so glad you didn't smoke at the pub. Too bad you drank so much that you got a hang-over. I remember them well, they suck big time. But that was your choice. Actions and consequences. If you change your actions your consequences change also. The more positive the action/choice the better the consequences. You could have done a number of things besides go to the pub and get drunk and be around all that smoke :) Going to a good movie and eatting buttery popcorn comes to my mind, lol. And then waking up after a good nights sleep feeling refreshed and energized instead of feeling like the walking dead, lol. Geez I'm so glad I haven't had a hang-over in so many yrs. but they were so bad I can remember them like yesterday :O UGH! Anyhow we all go through whatever we have to go through to get where we are today. I don't regret my past b/c I wouldn't be who I am today if not for my past & I do like and love myself more today than I ever have. I know I'm not alone in this big world by myself anymore :) People don't PLAN TO FAIL, THEY FAIL TO PLAN. Make good choices and remember u deserve to be happy. We all do. No one person on this earth is better than another person. I was just going to say good 4u for being smoke-free but my fingers just got going and I couldn't stop them :O :) :) (((((((cyber hug))))))) Just breathe....... Hi Kev Wow, you're doing so great!!!!! You're almost through work by now. What are you doing to reward yourself each evening? I'm glad you fit in some exercise...can you do that today, too? How about a nice warm bath? That might relax those tense muscles...and lavender is helpful too :) I'm very proud of you -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 123 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,920 Amount Saved: $836.40 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 5 Mins: 23 Seconds: 2
