Hey Aloha! Rolling along on the crest of wave.... Whenever I see the local tv weather forecaster I think of you. She does surfing. She has a tin of board wax in every room of her house apparently. Red sparkly shoes too! :) (this alludes to one of our IM's) Well I seeemingly christened this week 'ug week' at the breakfast table this morning. I work on the idea that ug is better than heck and heck is better than hell. The quit jealousy thing is stupid, I know it. I don't know why I seemingly cannot stop it. In the simplest of terms 'as soon my quit buddy arrives, I get jealous of how easy her quit is compared to mine, and that triggers an almighty crave and desire to blow my quit'. Now I know my quit is my quit and her quit is her quit. It is just something strange, I find it hard to explain. I am going to work on it this week. The crazy thing is, I never ever ever suffered from jealousy, so it is all new to me. I guess it is just a new emotion I experience that I may have masked when smoking. So I need to find a coping strategy. This won't make any sense to most quitters as I don't think it is a common experience. congratulations, kev!!!! I was just thinking how proud I was of you for not smoking either before or after The Meeting Yeah, week 3 has a name..it's called kev's 21 ;) Remind me what the quit jealousy is again? Yay Days are good...very good In the meantime, keep drinking water, consciously relax your jaw every once in a while, and try to get even 10-15 minutes of exercise a day...puddle-jumping if nothing else :p Keep going kev, you're doing it! -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 125 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,000 Amount Saved: $850.00 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 10 Mins: 18 Seconds: 3

I reached day 14 yippee!! Last day of heck week for me. Its not been a good week, but I did have 1 good day. And most importantly of all I did not smoke. Now at the start of this, in the back of my mind, my plan was to make heck week if I could, and If I was still as rough as I am, go back to smoking and just say 'well I gave my lungs 2 weeks rest'. Now at the end of it, maybe due to a whole host of reasons (in my head it is the way of saying thanks too given that I cannot afford to fly around the world and hug everyone in person) I have decided to fight on. So with your agreement (if you guys have enought energy left) I intend to carry on as planned. Is that ok? If yes, then great..read on, here are my hopes and dreams. I would like to make week 3 if possible. Does this week have a name? I need to tackle my quit jealousy at some point without destroying my quit. I would like to plan some more 'yay days' when I build up my energy banks again. I would like to one day sleep more than 3hrs a night. :) Anyway, thats my plan. So what do you think? I think it is possible. Hi Nance, well the meeting was not good in the least, but somehow I managed to cope (gritted teeth, smile) and I even continued my positive outlook, all the way to the end of the day. Some of my colleagues were having a rough time and I cheered them up. I like to see other people happy, it makes my day. Not having my trigger around helped of course, remember I put off working on that one yesterday. So, once a week I allow myself one day at the end of each week to reflect on the past, the future, any thoughts and thanks, before I got back to babystepping it. It a 'reward' for making it through the week to me. I'll start composing that one now. Kev, How was your meeting? How many new coping skills did you use today? Have a great evening...chill out and relax so you can get up and do it again tomorrow! You are almost at the 2 week point...you rock! We're both doing it Sam (although it took me a while to realise it)! Best wishes to you too and penguin, he'll be around sometime. One big family this place is (yoda style), not always happy but nearly always inspiring! 1:15pm to 2:15pm UK Time. My entire preparation is 'smile and be quiet', given how amazingly blunt I can be since my smoke free adventure! I feel like one of those air hostesses that have to smile on cue, but without the lovely pins :) Technically, I am not up to much, so its for the best. I guess this is what they call 'blagging it' right? I'll let you know if I managed it and how I got on. crying's a good thing sometimes, kev I am learning that..but sometimes i guess you just cant...like probably not with your supervisor ; ) you are doing well....have you had your meeting yet? if not, have you prepared for it? and is s/he sympathetic to what you are trying to accomplish with the smoking cessation? Hopefully you have some leeway there My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 124 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,960 Amount Saved: $843.20 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 7 Mins: 28 Seconds: 2
