Hi Nance,
I am back from the doctors now. So yes that does mean I faced two of my biggest fears (dentists and doctors) in less than 2 months! I did something sensible. I wrote down everything beforehand, like what I have used before, what combination, what worked, what caused me to smoke more. What I have been feeling like, my mental state etc. And then I wrote down everything he said advice wise.
Once he realised that I had done 8 days cold turkey he was very impressed and told me just to keep going and doing what I am doing now. So that is hypnosis CD, posting and reading here as much as possible, deepbreathing, walking.
He suggested that i work out how much I have saved and start a jar up to spent in 6months time. But also to take some of it for rewards in the meantime (sound familiar)?
He suggested that I do go to the pub as getting my social life back will help a great deal. This one I am not so sure about. Maybe 1hr max tomorrow.
That I avoid people offering cigaerettes to me. Smoking would be a very bad mistake. (I know that one)
That I avoid NRT. The cravings could send me back to smoking.
That if I am still suicidal and constantly crying at my desk in two weeks time then to make another appointment.
So I did it, I went and got advice. No anti-depressants but I will fight fight fight as I have been doing for the past 8 days.
Nance, yes this is THE ONE, and I am treating it as such. I am feeling slightly better and seeing your postive posts help me every day. I have to keep with the post, read, breathe, repeat program. And of course build a positive thought bank in my head.
Back to keeping with the moment (not thinking about the future or past)
