Windy,12 to 6 without eating? Are you crazy? You know you are suppose to eat 5 small meals a day. I would be killing someone if I hadn't eaten anything for 6 hours. I know you are nuts, but how about eating a few :eg: Maybe a bowl of whole gain ceral, a slice of turkey and wheat bread, snack size popcorn or you could fix yourself a smoothie and come chat with me :) Now people I am not being mean to Windy, she is my good friend and I love her to death. :) Keep the Quit Sparky My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/30/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 70 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 700 Amount Saved: $210.00 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 12 Mins: 34 Seconds: 9

Great tips members! Windy, You can also try to include more protein in your lunch. This will help you keep full for longer and you'll have time to burn it off in the afternoon as you go about your day. Danielle, Bilingual Support Specialist

I invented cranky, Windy & when I get hungry? OY, you don't want to know. Nuts are good, as Lainey says, they have protein & fibre so they fill you up quickly. Also, a protein along with a complex carb can be a good, filling snack. Like a few whole wheat crackers & couple of pieces of cheese or a handful of peanuts & raisins. If you have something like that around 3-3:30, it should hold you till supper. It's a blood-sugar regulating technique from my hypoglycemic diet & it works for me. I have dry roast nuts about 3:00, Windy, they take away the hunger, they keep the blood sugar level and take away the 3pm slump. Only about 20 nuts is enough, or you could do pstachios! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 126 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,150 Amount Saved: $1,329.30 Life Gained: Days: 15 Hrs: 11 Mins: 14 Seconds: 51

As time goes on, there are less issues to deal with. Fortunately, exercise and changing what I eat has helped me to lose the weight BUT sometimes I am SOOOOOOOOOOO hungry that I can hardly stand it. When I was a smoker, the cigarettes suppressed my appetite. If I had to wait for supper, I would smoke...but now I can hardly stand it. By 4:00 I am hungry, by 5:00 I am really hungry and by 6:00 I am downright cranky! This has actually led to arguements with my hubby who prefers to eat late and gets irritated when I start eating before the whole meal is ready. But, honestly, the longer I wait, the more I eat. An apple or granola bar does not do the trick to suppress my appetite...I need MORE! I have no intention of smoking to suppress my appetite and, honestly, after I have my supper, I am fine but I think I need a little help to get through from 12 to 6? Anybody else cranky out there or am I the only one??
