My dog died and I feel it coming back

Slayfaith, Your post made me cry for you. I am so truly sorry about you losing your beloved pet. I wish there were words that could comfort you. I have a dog that i've raised since he was 4 weeks old and he's almost like one of my children. I dont know how i'd be able to stand it if something were to happen to him. It's natural to go through a grieving process so it's understandable that you feel like you do. I know it's not much comfort to you, but the only advice i can think of is to look at it this way - at least the poor old guy is not having to suffer anymore. You were able to enjoy many years with him and he brought you alot of happiness and i'm sure you did the same for him. Again, i'm so sorry.

People can get just as attached to a pet as another person. Pets have personality, they rely on your help and care to live and they are as attached to you as you are to them. Grieving can be a long process but there are ways to cope. Have you thought about getting a new dog? It will not "replace" what you have lost but it will help fill the void some. I lost a pet recently also and found that a new kitten has not only been a source of enjoyment but has filled that "lost" feeling somewhat. There is nothing more fullfilling in life than feeling "needed".

I'm sorry for your loss. Anyone who has loved and lost a pet can understand your pain. I hope you have someone to talk to about your grief. You can always post your thoughts here if you feel comfortable.

A couple of weeks my dog died. I know that a lot of people are like "it's just a dog" but I had him for half of my life and at the end he was really dependent on me. You know that feeling where life feels different for a little while, then it feels normal again. Well I feel like I'm stuck in limbo cos the weird feeling wont go away. I feel nervous and I've practically stopped doing anything. I dunno how to get over my dog :-(
