Driving me crazy

Andrew my man I understand completly thats how I came into this site.I'm 68 years young and came here with the attitude of " why bother at my age to quit smoking." But if you stay with it and come here often it do'es get better. This is a long term investment in your self and like the lady's say " I'm worth it " ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/20/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 109 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,962 Amount Saved: $1,090.00 Life Gained: Days: 24 Hrs: 22 Mins: 30 Seconds: 36

Andrew I understand that feeling of "when will this get better" all to well...This is a very painful time., and my heart goes out to you in a very real sense. You have fought for what seems like an eternity and a part of you just wants to give in and relieve the stress. That part of you is the junkie, the part that wants to keep going forward is the you that is busy being born. If you can (and this takes focus and concentration) listen intently to the latter voice. Thats the one that knows it is being slowly poisoned...thats the one that has been kept silent for so many years by the addiction. And that is the one that will help you see the light at the end of the tunnel. That voice started out as a "voice in the wilderness" if you will. Its the one that has always known the truth about nicotine addiction. That voice is the single note upon which you are building a symphony of change in your life and in the life of all who love you. That voice knows everything about you. It knows why you want to stop the madness of choking down 4000 chemicals each time you light up. It knows perhaps (and I am guessing here) that you smoked to avoid things in your life that may have seemed unpleasant)...It knows that you used cigaretts to mark time when you where bored, be a friend when you where lonley and cry just a little bit when no tears would come. Use that voice now to do the thing you really want to do and that is GET YOURSELF FREE...Let the voice distract you by breathing deeply, exercising, drinking water...lots and lots of water...That voice is actually louder than you think...In fact it is so loud I can hear it from here... The truth is, it will get better, a great deal of our addiction is in our minds and that is why it is so hard to deal with at times...Change is hard, but if you really hear that voice that got you started down this road it will get better... nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 194 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,820 Amount Saved: $1,358.00 Life Gained: Days: 35 Hrs: 10 Mins: 5 Seconds: 23

Andreew50, Beren & Pen are right. You are used to having a smoke to reward yourself & you've done a difficult thing, staying quit for 3 weeks so reward yourself with soemthing special to you, not something special to the junky that lives in your head. And you cannot imaagine how nuch better life as a non-smoker is, but try to anyway. Because it's pretty sweet! But Andrew50, if none of that works, then go ahead & kill someone! Whoa!!! Hold on there!! Firstly, YES IT DOES GET BETTER!! So much better but you just cannot envisge. But getting there can be difficult and you are having problems today! Don't waste 3 weeks, distract yourself, tough it out, prove who's in control and feel like a million dollars when you come out the other side a winner! Read and post here as much as you need to - DISTRACT yourself and don't even consider going to buy any, let alone smoking one! You want to be quit? You've got to do it! We'll support you but it's your quit. You can do this if you WANT to. Do you want to? Yes? Well do it and win !! Good Luck! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/18/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 1145 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 22,900 Amount Saved: 5,725.00 Life Gained: Days: 183 Hrs: 21 Mins: 33 Seconds: 27

hi andrew, of course it gets better, every day is easier than the previous one.. isn't it? it is my third day only, and of course there are people who know what to say better than me, just wanted to let you know, we are here for you.. besides, can you imagine how inspiring you are for me right now? you survived 3 weeks! as far as l hear there are certain points you have that terrible craving, it is just because you feel like you succeed something and god knows for how many years we light up one when we finish something! dont be hard on yourself, breath deep, and keep going! the hardest part is over!

Hi Guys- just need a bit of help. I've been quit now for 3 weeks - but the craving are starting to drive me nuts - I don't feel any better and if I eat one more mint or piece of chewing gum I think I'll kill someone. Does this get any better - or should I just buy a packet now and forget about quitting My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/17/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 20 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 500 Amount Saved: $200.00 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 9 Mins: 59 Seconds: 42
