congradulations on your first day of a smoke free life. It sounds like your doing the right things by jounarling and looking back at all the reasions why youu want to quit, are excellent ways to help stay smoke free. Cragrarts once again.
Osto
A journal is an excellent tool...Remember as addicts we are both the jailer and the jailed. In many ways it is a lonesome struggle, but be thankful for this site and post as much of your journal as you wish. What you might consider a foot note someone else may see as a revelation.
I know this is not easy, but you are doing it and that is all that matters. Smoking is a ritualistic learned behaviour and as such we must learn other behaviors that will supercede the need to choke the smoke.
Take this one day at a time and become a good observer of yourself. In order to overcome this we must in effect stand naked in the light of our own awareness...That can be painful at times and down right chilly, but it will help you become more of the person you really are as opposed to the one who has hidden behind a veil of thin blue smoke for way to long...
Welcome to the fight, stay close by and learn all that you are able to concerning the depth and breath of this addiction...You are not alone and that fact will help you through many a hard time...

Way to go Osto - me too, made it with the help of a little Nicorette, I like your idea of journaling, I did some art work, I do mandalas (circle drawings) and will chronicle my way through this one, first one is called 'Baby Steps' - which I need to remember as I get through each day. Keep up the good fight!!!
Congratulations on making day 1 Osto! I know it's really hard the first few days, so let us know if we can help in any way.
Deep breathing really helps lots of folks as well as hard candy, gum, sunflower seeds, drinking with a straw, and sipping ice cold water. Take good care of yourself Osto and get plenty of rest.

Well day one was a tough one. The cravings were tough for me in the moring but slacked off in the afternoon then kicked up in the evening. At the present this morning on the secon day it is not as bad even after my moring coffee. Well just thought I would keep everyone up to date. Good luck to everyone else. I did find reading my reasons to quit a good thing to keep me on track. Also I spent all day writing in my journal when the craving would sneek up on my.
