Sorry to be the bearer of the bad news, but have done the research on this one. If you are over 40, the tire is coming to a belly near you! 'Tis the course of nature and is hard to keep down but it does happen to everyone! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 101 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,525 Amount Saved: $1,065.55 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 9 Mins: 17 Seconds: 28

Aging or not, the question remains the same: why this (fat accumulation in waist area) happens only after quitting and not before?! Not that Im looking for an excuse to restart ... ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/4/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 130 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 650 Amount Saved: $130.00 Life Gained: Days: 18 Hrs: 4 Mins: 21 Seconds: 39

I think Lainey is right, unfortunately. I know I have stuff that's in a whole different postal code than it started out in & of all the temporary symptoms & indignities of the quit, I don't think it's one of them! Sorry, Mercy. ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/13/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 31 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 620 Amount Saved: $341.00 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 3 Mins: 41 Seconds: 45

Mercy, Lots of great advice and support here. Take the time to do some research and enlist in your doctors help. They know your body and can help you come up with a plan that is right for you. One step at a time and please celebrate those 142 days! Josie, Support Specialist

Would be nice if we could blame that one on smoking, but I think we all have the same 'spare tire' from middle age disease. There is an article on MSN today with tips on how to help alleviate it! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 99 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,475 Amount Saved: $1,044.45 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 4 Mins: 5 Seconds: 5

Hi weight warriors... Listen... I have only gained a few pounds...but I swear my figure changed. Does quiting smoking re-distribute weight to the mid-section? Like around the rib cage? My arms..legs..hips are the same. Even my waist is the same. At least my pants close comfortably...but I have developed a roll around my rib/midruff area. This is not good.......no... not good at all. What the heck.. did it suck weight from my butt and place it around my midruff or what? Any ideas...what should I do?
