Most of my run is on the city streets that lead to the beach...I run on concrete that lies along the beach, only for about a mile. Total run is between 3-4 miles. I was doing it 5x per week, but lately have had problems getting motivated with all the fog and chilly weather...Yeah, I'm whining...LOL I used to go to a gym too, but it just didn't keep the weight off like running does. I was doing situps and some weight training at home...Now that summer is around the corner, I NEED to get back to my situps and weights...I have several tapes that I've made with all my favorite songs that I rotate and listen to on my walkman. Music has also been an outlet for me..I use certain songs to focus on if I am feeling down or stressed...one of my favorites that I've sort of chosen as my life's anthym of sorts, is this: Greatest Love of All ~ Whitney Houston I believe the children are our are future Teach them well and let them lead the way Show them all the beauty they possess inside Give them a sense of pride to make it easier Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be Everybody searching for a hero People need someone to look up to I never found anyone who fulfill my needs A lonely place to be ****So I learned to depend on me***** CHORUS I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone's shadows If I fail, if I succeed At least I'll live as I believe No matter what they take from me They can't take away my dignity Because the greatest love of all Is happening to me I found the greatest love of al Inside of me The greatest love of all Is easy to achieve Learning to love yourself It is the greatest love of all And if by chance, that special place That you've been dreaming of Leads you to a lonely place Find your strength in love

I don't have a stressful job, but I,like everyone, has stressors in their lives. It can't be avoided. But how we perceive and react to the stress is the key. Running, for me, in a real outlet. Anything that releases endorphins into the body is good. I eat very healthy and keep busy...If your stress is mostly at work, why not come home and take the first few minutes, half hour..whatever, to de-stress? Wow..just got back from running..it's been overcast here for about 2 weeks or more, and today the sun was shining...the ocean was blue and life is good!!! :)

Silly as it may seem I've come to realize that having direction is important. Before this realization, I kept trying to focus on my symptoms and a cause.... What does that achieve? NOW I realize it just REINFORCES THOSE FEELINGS and allows me to wallow even more......gives them life.. Life they don't deserve...only I can put them to rest. For me, the more I ignore their existance, the more they cease to exist. It also allowed me to have reasonable justification for them...when logically there IS NO REASONABLE JUSTIFICATION.... Just another thought I had...

CHANGE OCCURS when the FEAR of staying the same is GREATER than CHANGING. I mean I really don't even know you...but I see all kinds of positives in your life. Your wife just made it through surgery, you have an awesome daughter that is likely to carve out a place in the world for herself and YOU, YOU have the enviable position of being able to help shape the minds of our future!!! You are healthy and your child is...and it looks as though your wife will be too, again soon. I came from a ****py chilhood too...but so what..I can't change it..the only thing I can change is to not let it drag me down. It seems as though you've spent a considerable time in the past AND future...what if what if...to death....ARGGGGGG When will you start living in the present? It's up to you, you know. If you're waiting for permission, then better give it to yourself soon. I used to believe that I've waited for my whole life for my life to begin..because I did what you do...live in the past and the future...Focussing ON the present, is what living is about, I think. NOT what might happen tomorrow, 10 yrs from now...or even an hour from now..YOU most likely CAN'T control it anyway...so WHY IS IT CONTROLLING YOU? Because it's familiar, it's a habit, and you allow it to. JUST like my smoking...I know what I will have to go through to quit....and I've done it before. But it's a habit, I'm familiar with it...hahahaha...but I WILL one day do it again, and likely soon. Thanks for asking though... I'd tell ya to hang in there...but I don't like that phrase anymore. I want to do more than just hang in there....I want to soar to where ever life takes me..unafraid, and knowing I AM THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN CONTROL MY OWN DESTINY....YOU CAN TOO... :) Stop making excuses and take charge of your life...it's the only one you'll (I'll) ever have.

KitcatIhave to change my attitude or be doomed with anxiety the rest of my life.On the subject of running it probably saved my life when I was younger I came from a messed up family life and that what got me into college. Thats why this anxiety waited until I was 40 to show up.Up to that point I was very successful as a teacher and a coach. Maybe I will do better with A new FORMULA. i SURE LIKE YOUR WAY OF THINKING. hOW IS THE NO SMOKING CAMPAIGN GOING?

NOT ONLY fight them, REPLACE THEM...BANISH THEM..DISALLOW THEM....SQUASH THEM.... Replacing, being the most important.... "Sometimes I get down on my self so bad It takes half the day to get back up." Change that channel.....OR stay the same.....your choice.... I'm from So Calif...near Santa Barbara :)
