First really really tough time...

LouPLou, Just another tidbit of info. My husband visited his doctor yesterday. His doctor participated in the studies on Chantix before it was officially released. His doctor encouraged him to take the full six month regimen. The doctor said that patients are more successful when they take the medication for the full six months and he gave my hubby some statistical info on this. But of course, you should certainly go by your own doctor's recommendations! Glad you're feeling a little better, Boxerfan Boxerfan My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 29 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 536 Amount Saved: $104.4 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 15 Mins: 3 Seconds: 59

Hi LouPLou, Sorry to hear you're having such a tough time. My husband I are also both taking Chantix. Neither of us have had problems with taking it at night. Last night I took mine an hour before bedtime and had no problems, but very vivid dreams. I know everyone is different, so I thought I'd share my experience so far. I did, however, have problems sleeping during the first week to two of my quit. I think it was just my body adjusting to being smoke free. Try to look at the bright side of things Lou. Maybe you could pamper yourself this weekend. Take naps if you feel like it, watch a few movies, take a long bubble bath, or maybe go spend some time window shopping with a good friend. Just take care of yourself. Hang in there LouPLou. I'm just starting week 5 today, and I'm here to tell you I'm feeling SOOOO MUCH BETTER. I know you can do it, too. Hey Jean... If I end up being here all alone at home all weekend I will probably be here a lot.. So get ready.. LOL! I have been drinking lots of water and trying to walk a little every afternoon. The past couple of afternoons haven't been able to though. I have gum and low calorie snacks. I also have my handheld Suduko game, that is a great game.. Just learned to play it. Thank you for responding so fast. I have eaten dinner now and feel a good bit better. I am going to give it one more day and if I am not better tomorrow I am going to add back the night pill. I will let you know how that goes.. me again... one other idea... How about increasing the Chantix to your regular amount and it will help with the cravings and then take a nap during the day. Your body needs to rest because it's healing since you stopped smoking... Anyway, just a thought :) J xo My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/4/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 22 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 570 Amount Saved: $225.5 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 13 Mins: 32 Seconds: 19

Lou P Lou .. You most certainly have a lot going on hon. Well, it seems you need your rest but at the same time adding back that extra pill may also be your best bet too. You know you are not alone right ? You can post here as often as you have to and there will always be responses from many members. Do you have hobbies, distractions that you enjoy doing ? Is going for walks an option ? Even going window shopping at a mall ? I've found that walking really relieves the anxieties of stopping smoking PLUS all the other stresses in our lives. When a crave hits do you have your water at the ready and gum/hard candies/etc. ? Do you enjoy movies.. if so pull out happy/lighthearted ones. Maybe take a long hot shower, get into your comfy housecoat or sweats, plop down with your snacks and throw in a flick? So many distractions/diversions are available, including coming here --- Post often ! I'm thinking about you... Ok, I have dealt with the cravings over the past week. And I have made it through. But what I am going through right now tops it all. Some of my main triggers are stress and nerves. Well, I am dealing with both right now. Just need to let some things off my chest. Okay here's the deal. My boyfriend is going to work this weekend. He is going to be about 6 to 8 hours away on the coast. I was going to go to my parents about 4 hours away. Well, first one thing and then another has come up. My boyfriend's son's field trip times have changed. He won't be home till 7:30 tomorrow. Kinda late to travel for the kids and I. My parents had plans they forgot about which means they will be away for about 4 hours Saturday night. Then found out that I need a tire on my car before I go anywhere. On top of the oil change I already knew about. It has been one thing right after another all afternoon and I have to say I am about to go nuts. I finally decided that it is to late to travel and to be honest.. a little scared to be on the road so late by myself with 4 kids. Then if I leave Saturady morning I won't have time to visit before my parents have to go out. So, decided that I am not going there. Still have to call and tell them. UGHHHHHHH! So then I get upset cause I wasn't invited to the beach with my boyfriend. His brothers wife was invited. He then said I could probably go but may have to babysit while they work. Nahhh, I have a really long week at work next week (12 to 14 hour days Monday through Friday) and don't want to work all weekend too. So, now I am going to be staying home and all the kids have lined up somewhere to go so I am going to be all alone all weekend. I know for most people that would be great... but I don't like being alone. On top of it, can't find a tire that I can afford for my car, so who knows if I will have a car while I am here alone. Why can't tomorrow be payday??? So, with all of that and all the things that I have forgot to post.. I am in that "quit smoking daze again" I am having a rough time. I know that I am going to make it through this and before long I will feel much better... that is the only thing keeping me sane.. The knowledge that this shall pass.... I also cut back on my Chantix last night.

So glad you're feeling better Lou. You should reward yourself for your two weeks tomorrow. As my reward for two weeks, I bought some nice smelling bubble bath. I've been able to use that to relax numerous times, AND I can really smell it! Yes, tomorrow is 2 weeks... hard to believe really. I already feel so much better. Everything from last week has passed and turned out just fine. I am sleeping again and doing great with just 1 Chantix pill a day. My boyfriend made the trip for work over the weekend and made it without a cig! He will be 2 weeks smoke free Thursday. The kids had fun this weekend, one of them decided he wanted to stay home so he and I had a weekend to ourselves. All of that without a cig! Yayyyyyyy! I am really enjoying watching my stats increase... funny just how fast the number of cigs not smoked goes up.
