First really really tough time...

Thank you all so very much. I have made it yet another day. Today hasn't been as bad as yesterday... It was really hard saying goodbye to my boyfriend.. and I am worried about his quit. When he opened the door to put his stuff in his brothers truck you could tell his brother had just smoked a cig. I sure hope my boyfriend can be strong and not smoke while with his brother. (I know I should be worrying about my quit.. and I am. But he has worked as hard as I have and I don't want him to through it away. I did mention to him before he left that I was worried. He really didn't say may, but he is strong. I know he will make it.) Anyway... it was so hard to tell him bye and when I got back in the house I wanted to smoke so bad. But the self talk really worked. Now I'm not even wanting one. One of my kids decided to stay home, yayyyy.. LOL!!! So he and I are going to go get something to eat and pick up a movie or something. Thank you all so much for the encouragment and support it really did help. Hang on, Lou! Fight by the day. If thats too hard, fight by the hour. If that's too hard, take a "five deep breath" vacation and wait 'em out. You're fighting craves and you know their weak point. They're short-lived, 5 mins tops. They can't go the distance--but you can! Remember: You're an April Ashkicker, and a crave's worst nightmare! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/4/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 23 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 710 Amount Saved: $69 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 20 Mins: 40 Seconds: 9

Hi Lou! Congrats on surviving hell week! I have quit in the past with various methods, this time with Chantix. I think the first two or three weeks of my quits involved insomnia, wild dreams (I kinda liked those ) and waking up tired! I don't think it is necessarily a side effect of Chantix as much as a symptom of quitting; whatever method you use; because I experienced the same thing with patches and cold turkey. I think it may just be a part of nicotine withdrawel. In any event, you are doing so very well, despite your weekend dilemma. Each and every day gets better! BTW-I would LOVE to have the house to myself for the weekend! Can I send my kids to your house? And yes, that's what this site is here for - writing it all out feels so good doesn't it ? Well you make good use of the 'me' time you'll have on the weekend and you know where to find us if you need someone to chat with :) Enjoy your non smoking weekend ! Thank you Jean.. yes, I knew I would go good advise here. I mostly needed to get it all of my chest. Much easier to deal with once you get it out there... and better to deal with it than to let it all fester, I'm afraid if I did that I would have done something stupid. Well, my boyfriend has taken his son to his parents house so they can go on the field trip tomorrow. The other 3 have lined up where they are going... and they will be leaving around 5PM tomorrow. My boyfriend will be leaving when I get home from work tomorrow, he's gonna get the kids off the bus and I get home shortly thereafter. Then it is me time for the entire weekend. Get ready SSC, Lou P Lou will be here a lot this weekend... LOL! As far as my tire... if I know my boyfriend like I think I do... he will find one while I am at work and have it taken care of for me. I know he wouldn't leave me here without a way to go. So, everything is gonna be ok. I was just really overwhelmed earlier and that is a huge trigger and I was scared I was gonna do something crazy, so I came here. Thank you very much for listening. It really helped!!! Jean, right now I have my feet up on my desk, leaned back in my chair, reading and posting here while I watch tv.. it is me time till bedtime! LOL! Ok Lou.. Looks like you're getting some good advice and you are lucky that you are working with your doctor at your place of work :) I'm on and off all the time to check in ok... Plus there are other member's here so never hesitate to post often. I'm heading off now to get some things done and then I am settling in to watch a movie - that happens to be one of my favourite distractions :) At some point tonight put your feet up and have some much needed 'me' time..k? Promise me? K! Bye for now... Lou - hang in there. These moments do pass. I know you are a bit bummed out by the last minute changes in plans for the weekend. But, maybe you need to look at it another way. You have a whole weekend to yourself! Pamper yourself - take a bubble bath, give yourself a pedicure, etc... Watch whatever chick flicks you want or funny movies, whatever you prefer. Read a chick lit novel. Or just veg out and play sudoku. Do you like jigsaw puzzles? Get a 1000 piece one and lose yourself in doing it (that would work for me!). Reorganize your clothing for Spring. See - if you look at it as ME time, being on your own this weekend won't be so bad! (Boy, I'd love a weekend to myself! LOL) - Freemom My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/29/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 28 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 346 Amount Saved: $114.24 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 16 Mins: 1 Seconds: 49

Jean, wish I could take a nap during the day.. but I work at a hospital from 6:30AM to 3:00PM... when I get home the kids want all of my attention and if I take a nap then I sure wouldn't sleep at night, but it was a great idea.. Boxerfan, my doctor actually wrote for 5 months.. The starter pack and then 4 more months. He works at the hospital where I work and has said to let him know how I am feeling so we can go from there. I will mention to him about taking it a full 6 months and see what he says. Thank you so much for the info. Boxerfan.. thank you for sharing your experience. I have had really vivid, wierd and at times uncomfortable dreams. I could deal with that, but the restlessness was something in a different league. It just started a few nights ago. I slept much better last night, but I also didn't take my evening Chantix dose. Those are the only side affects I have dealt with. I am so thankful for Chantix, it has made all of this much much easier... Yeah, I have been looking for the positive in all of this. And, I keep telling myself that with everyone gone and I have all the me time I want. And, I feel once everyone is gone I will be fine.. It is the anticipation. Kinda funny.. to be 33 years old and deal with seperation anxiety.. LOL!!!
