Kayla....this post made me laugh and cry! I am so glad you pulled through smoke free. Tutti, what a beautiful son you have! I have five, and the oldest two have reached the point of Tutti's son---thank goodness---I really don't worry about the youngest daughter, the youngest son (17) has had a few scrapes, bumps and bruises, but I think he will eventually 'get it'. My nineteen year old has been trying to find her way since she was 14 and may take a lot longer and has caused us sooooooo much heartache and turmoil. It's not easy raising kids, but I do know that even if they get lost along the way, almost all return to the lifestyles they were raised with. So, by quitting you are setting such a good example for her and no, you are not too strict. Today she will scream 'I hate you' for being so mean, but in ten, twenty years she will be saying 'thank you' for caring. Hi Kayla, Three days off the patch already? That's wonderful. You're doing so great!! I'm so glad things are better for you today. Keep us posted on how you're doing, okay? I went cold turky myself but you may feel a little strange coming off of the patches. I have no doubt you'll do just great. Hi everyone, I made it through yesterday without smoking and today I am again without the patch. I am feeling much better. I'm still getting some urges but nothing compared to yesterday and the day before. My mood is more calmed down. I didn't know if I was coming or going. My head felt like it was in a whirlwind. I hate feeling like I have no control over anything but I do have control whether I smoke or not and I choose not to smoke. If it weren't for this site and the support of all of you I might not have made it. The nicodemon almost won and it scares me how easy it can be to give up. Thank you for not giving up on me and giving me the strenght to fight the urge. I went home last night and watched a great movie that my daughter suggested and I was impressed it was really good. It's called Freedomm Writers. She usually picks movies that I wouldn't let my own mother watch LOL. I am going to continue going cold turkey and stay close to here. I need to do this for me and it is the hardest addiction I have dealt with. I have had other addictions and have a quit of 16years. This by far has been rough but I have had some really good days and look forward to having better days more often. I know I could do this but not alone. It'll be awhile before I could go it alone. So please bear with me in my bad days and moods. I am Incredibly grateful to all of you!!! Heya Kayla, I hope you're feeling better tonight. I know you're dealing with so much right now and just know that I'm thinking of you a lot tonight. I know the boyfriend isn't a huge problem and you can handle that situation in the way you see fit. I know too that you'll have an easier time with your daughter. There's no timeline on it but, I PROMISE you that it will smooth out in time. It always comes back to "time." Huh? Kayla, my son really got himself into a lot of trouble. I mean a lot of trouble. THAT I KNOW OF, he smokes cigarettes but he only "tried" that other kind of smoking. Where he blew us out of the water is the fact that he wound up in jail for other reasons. In a nutshell, my boy dug himself into a deep rut and realized later that he was absolutely miserable being there. It took him some time but he realized that everything we tried to teach him was out of love. Then he decided to write the Mother's Day letter to me that I posted earlier. It came out of the blue and I still cry when I read it. Your daughter will realize the same thing. It just happens one day when you realize, Mom really loves me....Dad really loves me and now it's all so clear. LOL They realize that Mom is where they're really safe and Mom's heart is where home really is. Dad's too!! For now, hang in there and Legend is soo right. You're one powerful woman. You may feel beaten down right now but girl, look at you and how strong your really are. I'm amazed!!! Congratulations on those 40 Days!! I truly hope you pampered yourself. Hugs, Tutti
