I'm in the final week of this detoxification diet my chiropractor recommended to me, and it has worked really well so far (wasn't the easiest thing I've ever done, though). I am already halfway to my goal weight, and I feel a lot healthier, having gotten years of accumulated cigarette toxins out of my body. The really interesting thing though is that the cravings are now virtually nonexistent. I just realized that yesterday I didn't even think about having a cigarette! Maybe the hunger pangs got in the way... :p Legend My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/25/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 72 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 434 Amount Saved: $90 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 1 Mins: 31 Seconds: 56

Good for you! Glad to hear someone is losing weight! It doesn't surprise me that the cravings disappeared for you! I imagine that food can also trigger some cravings, especially favorites. Anyway, Success to you! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 70 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,763 Amount Saved: $738.5 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 12 Mins: 18 Seconds: 44

Diet wrap-up: Weight loss: 10 lb. in 3 weeks. Actually increased lean muscle mass, so all of weight loss was fat. Feeling great, better than I've felt in years -- first quitting, then this. In fact, feeling so good that I'm going to keep going, make a few changes to make it more livable (yes to spices, and I'm allowing myself spelt bread, soy sauce). Going to keep using the shake as a diet supplement. Looking for another 5 pounds to make things really happy. This was a good idea. Certainly kept my mind off of smoking. FYI, here's a partial list of the shake contents: whey protein powder flax meal powder brown rice protein powder buckwheat juice powder calcium citrate magnesium citrate brussel sprouts kale barley grass It doesn't taste as bad as it sounds. Really. Hi, Changing! I thought it would be a good idea for a couple of reasons. First, I had been gaining weight even before I quit, and I needed to drop about 15 pounds to get back to "fighting weight." Second, I really wanted to clear all the crud out of my body from all those years of smoking. Nobody mentioned the idea of craving reduction, that just kinda happened. I've now lost the majority of weight that I wanted to, and in five more pounds I will weigh less than I have since my college days, and have more muscle mass to boot. This can be an emotional process too, even though I don't have the kind of emotional relationship with food that many people do, and it has changed how I look at my food. I'm really into the subtleties of the flavors and textures of everything I eat now, and pay a lot more attention to it, in a good way.
