First post here, using Chantix

Kita: chantix and your will to not smoke!!! All the rest: chantix is a GREAT help, in my opinion, but you have to want to do this. If you want to, chantix will fill up those receptors enough to make it not so painful as you withdraw from the nicotine and find other ways to deal with stress, reward yourself for a job well done, or take a break. I wish you all well....it is wonderful to be free of the constant need for a cigarette -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 63 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,520 Amount Saved: $428.40 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 19 Mins: 17 Seconds: 12

Minx and Dave, Good luck with your quits! I'm on Chantix; it has been wonderful. It doesn't do it ALL FOR you, but it helps a great deal. Have you set quit dates? Gotten rid of lighters, ash trays, other paraphenalia? Gone through the workbook on the left side of the screen? These are all things that have been instrumental to many quitters. I wish you the best!!! --Shakes My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 48 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 960 Amount Saved: $432.00 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 2 Mins: 12 Seconds: 54

Thanks everyone for the welcome! Before the chantix I felt like it was a constant battle. I know I can do this. I am very fortunate my insurance covers it, so it is $25/month. Liz, congrats on being smoke free for 9 days! I could not make it that far by myself, so my hat is off to you! are you having trouble? Is it getting better over the nine days? If not you may talk to your dr and see if he thinks chantix would help. It has worked very well for me. melissa My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 18 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 752 Amount Saved: $144 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 17 Mins: 47 Seconds: 0

Hi Melissa and Liz, Chantix is a great pill to help you stop smoking. You still have to want to quit and I recommend prepare to quit by coming here and reading. I haven't smoked in 50 days due to Chantix I didn't think I could go 50 minutes to tell you the truth. You will have craves but you need to work through them and it is so worth it to be smoke free :p My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 50 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,009 Amount Saved: $325 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 0 Mins: 29 Seconds: 50

Hi Liz All I can say is, I am on Chantix right now and it really really helped me. I am almost done with my 12 weeks and feel confident that I can stop taking them with no problem. Ask your doctor about it. Congratulations on your quit. You can do this. And you found a great site for support and adivse. Good Luck :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 70 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,760 Amount Saved: $350 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 10 Mins: 58 Seconds: 52

HI! My nane is Liz. This is my first posting on this site. I quit somking 9 days ago. I am not using any of the NRTs to help. Do you think that I should start with Chantix to help with the cravings? Please let me know what you think. Thanks!
