Pea, Just as Rusty said, alcohol is a depressant. You may not have felt the full effects of it until now as smoking boosts your pleasure centers, counteracting the effect. It may also explain as to why you're craving cigarettes when drinking. Have you ever looked at ways in which you could let your hair down without alcohol? A really fun outing that gets you up & moving instead perhaps? My next question for you would be why are you eating? Is it because your hungry? Your bored? Other emotion? Try finding the root cause and go from there. If you really just are hungry, you may find it helpful to have a small snack before that nightly urge hits. Pea, I understand the urge to stuff yourself. I have days like that. I figure those are the days I used to stuff myself with lots of cigs. It's the "mood of the day!" I've had stupid dreams too - also had some recurring dreams that I used to have many years ago resurface for a while, and then go on their way again. Maybe our brain is re-processing our life without smoke... who knows? I've discovered we all have different times that are more difficult. I've had a harder time the past week or two. I'm finally understanding what everyone said about getting through that first year. I've had much harder things to handle in my life, so it's not the end of the world, but it does get annoying sometimes. I try to "walk" it off, which it sounds like you have been doing as well. Hi Pea, Most folks find that drinking is a depressant and probably not a good idea to combine with a quit. So why make yourself depressed? Why feel bummed out by not being able to do something that makes you feel bad? And why do you need vices anyway? Be a good role model for your child. There is no strict timeline of when people feel things. Lots of people have the 30-day things, but they might have it at 25 days or 40 days. I never had it that I recall. Of course, you are normal. You're going through a little rough patch right now, which you probably did when you were a smoker, too. Live for right now, take one day at a time. I can promise you that things will get better...maybe they already are! Meanwhile, reward yourself for 52 days...that's awesome and you deserve to be proud! Hi! I was wondering if any of you have had the most pleasant experience of getting quit melancholy when you drink? I am not a big drinker but the every time I was tried to have a few(all of 3 times), ya know....let my hair down so to speak, I am freakin depressed. and all I think about is smoking. I am like, great. Now I will have no vices...not a single one....this sucks. oh and food. I have been trying to keep it at 1500 calories a day....but when night comes, I start raiding the kitchen like a gremlin! I look forward to the next time I can shove food into my face. This is not normal...I have never been like this, except perhaps back in college before I gave up those extra curricular activities, or other vices, if ya know what I mean ;) And I have been having very odd dreams lately....like different parts or chapters of my life replaying at night, in no particular order...and vastly different from the actual events. Like a committee has hijacked my memory and has decided to make a mini-series out of it that is loosely based on actual events and even less interesting then the after school specials....yet I wake up feeling very strange. okay I am guessing some of you are going to recommend some professional help at this point??? Seriously I am actually a very grounded person. Just struggling at the moment. and as far as my gratitude goes.....I had a fabulous steak dinner tonight, and wonderful day with my little boy, and I also biked 3.5 miles and walked 5 miles today. and enjoyed it. oh and is there some weird thing with 50+ days. I had read that 30+ and you hit anger/emotion. But am I going through some part of this that is normal on a time line? This and any other answers would be great.....I am hoping I am normal.
