Hi Smokey, Good thing you reached out cause I suspect you are in a danger zone. I didn't hear you say that you slipped (past tense). I read that you have been having a couple every day. Today is another day. I didn't read that you won't do it today, other than you wrote that you don't want to - you may have been saying this every day for the past couple of days. If you want, you can not do it today. Go tell the people that you have bumbed from that you are committed to quitting, most people will respect that and help you. Then, try not to even ask them for another one (or two) today. Go into your grab bag and get back to you quitting resources- what were they again? Don't feel bad or wallow right now. Gather your strength and just make sure that nothing shaped like a stick with tobacco in it makes it into your mouth today. period. That's all you ahve to do. If you need to, start with just this hour. You made a rational decision to quit, don't question that. Don't think about it. Just get through today. Stick close.
I have smoked 2-3 cigs the last few days . I dont know why.. I want to quit so bad and I will.I cant for the life of me understand why I lit up a cig, didnt buy any cigs ,I turned into a bum and bummed them.
Addiction isn't rational, and there is no rational justification for giving in to it. Active addiction is a state of insanity. You're an addict. The wonder isn't that you went back smoking. The wonder is that you stayed smoke-free as long as you did. Quitting smoking is tough, and most people who endeavor to quit, fail to quit. But those who keep trying...usually succeed. So keep trying. You will succeed. And don't beat yourself up with guilt or remorse. Use this experience to make yourself stronger, better prepared and more resilient. You're going to do this, Smokey. You're going to be free. Don't let anyone or anything, including this slip, rob you of that. The only way you fail is if you quit trying... and I know that you're not going to do that. You CAN do it, Smokey! Before you grab a cig, come here. Talk to someone first. Smokey - If quitting was an easy thing, no one would be addicted and no one would be on this website. So - stop being so hard on yourself! Now, 2 questions: (1) Where were you & what were you doing when you bummed the smokes? (2) Have you tried any NRTs or meds for your quit? Smokey, This addiction can take a handle of you, so fight back. Make plans to prepare and keep busy. Fight that urge with coping mechanisms and avoidance techniques. Preparation will help you push forward! Start writing down your triggers and use this information to help you change your routines and be ready for the crave :) Josie ______________________ The SSC Support Team.
